The details
Located in a 55-acre private eco-reserve adjacent to the Cotswold Water Park, sits Willow Lodge. This contemporary cottage sleeps two guests, making it an ideal retreat in the Cotswolds for couples looking to explore this marvellous part of the country. With modern amenities, stylish decor and spectacular lake views, Willow Lodge is your perfect romantic retreat that is designed for privacy and tranquillity.
The sleek interior is flooded with natural light thanks to the huge windows that offer the fantastic views of the water. The bright living space features a comfy L-shaped sofa that sits around the wood burning fireplace. Simply light the fire and cosy up with your loved one enjoying a movie or your favourite box-set on the TV. Or, leave the TV off and enjoy a glass of something lovely whilst gazing out at the view.
The open-plan living space also features the contemporary kitchen, which is nicely-equipped with everything you'll need to whip up delicious feasts during your stay. You can enjoy your meals on the round dining table that seats four in comfort. This space also has underfloor heating throughout for even more cosiness.
Stepping upstairs, you'll find the double bedroom and the ensuite shower room. The bedroom has a large comfy double bed with crisp white linen and snug, cosy throws. The bedroom sits on a mezzanine level, so you can wake up and enjoy a cup of coffee whilst taking in the lovely views.
Outside, the lodge has a fab private deck. Here you can discover the joys of birdsong at dawn and some star gazing at night. This is the perfect place to sit by the water's edge basking in the sunshine with a good book, or you might want to enjoy your morning coffee here in peace as you plot the day ahead.
The surrounding grounds are made up of two pristine lakes and a beautiful untamed reserve. These beautiful wetlands are home to a wide array of wildlife including bats, wildfowl, fish, dragonflies, damselflies, butterflies and other invertebrates. The lakes are both fishing lakes, one of which is stocked with carp and coarse fish and the other with rainbow and brown trout. So if you're keen fishers, you can take your rods with you and see what you can catch.
While these picturesque surroundings make it tempting to do nothing but wander the paths through woods, there is plenty to explore further afield in the Cotswolds, the largest Area of Outstanding Beauty in England and Wales. The surrounding villages offer charming pubs, delightful walking routes and some lovely places to eat. Anyone interested in doing something a bit more active, will be pleased to know that there are opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, canoeing and sailing in the local area. The nearby town of Cirencester is also well worth a visit. This charming market town has a fascinating Roman history, as well as a good selection of shops and eateries.
