The details

Sitting on a hill in the Welsh county of Powys is Whitehall Dairy. This rustic conversion sits on the eight-acre Whitehall Farm, and has been a labour of love for the owners since 2012. Apart from its fantastic location and arresting views of the undulating Welsh hills, Whitehall Dairy is ideal for staying put too. Sleeping up to 10 guests, it is perfect for medium sized groups. Its big open planned living area, fantastically equipped kitchen, and large two storied garden (complete with hot tub and BBQ) means you'll be more than happy to spend the day on site.

Bought by the owners in 2012, they have lovingly renovated the Diary into the hillside wonder that it is today. Rustic period features - such as timber framing and original stone walls - can be found throughout. The impressive living area is open-planned and sits under vaunted ceilings. It contains a large and fully equipped kitchen and a dining room (with wood-burning stove) which seats up to 10 guests.

A level below, in what used to be the cattle feeding area, is the main lounge. Here, floor to ceiling windows and glass bi-fold doors provide unhindered views of the gorgeous Welsh countryside. There are five double bedrooms. Three are king size and ensuite while the other two are super king size. Of the latter, one can be split into two singles and the other is suitable for wheelchair users with a large accessible shower. Outside, there is a garden that is split into two levels. It contains ample seating, a lawn and patio dining area with an integrated charcoal BBQ. The top level has its very own wood fired Scandinavian hot tub for an added splash of luxury!

The Dairy's location makes it the perfect spot from which to explore the region. The nearby historic town of Montgomery contains several great choices for food and drink, while its castle ruins are a fantastic vantage point from which to survey the surrounding countryside. Just a 15-minute drive to the west is Newtown, the largest town in the county of Powys. The market town of Welshpool also lies less than 15-minutes to the north. Powis Castle is also certainly worth a visit! The area is also very popular with nature walkers. There are lots of hikes and trails nearby, as well as beautiful woodlands - and even a haunted house. Should you wish to venture further afield, Roundton Hill - an Iron Age hillfort - is a 15-minute drive away.
