Charming 19th century lodge with a whisky bar and a hot tub in the Cairngorms National Park, perfect for big groups or families.
This beautifully renovated 19th century granite lodge is set in the heart of the charming village of Grantown-on-Spey at the start of the famous Speyside Whisky Trail. Inside, you’ll find five bedrooms, spacious living areas and even a custom whisky bar over three floors. In the evenings, after some exploring in the Cairngorms National Park, get a fire going in the wood burner and sample some local whiskys at the bar. Outside, the large garden is the perfect place to relax on sunny days with a hot tub, outdoor dining area and BBQ.
The living areas on the ground floor are all designed for large groups to relax and socialise after a busy day exploring this spectacular part of Scotland. The dining room has an après ski feel to it with its log burner, rustic Austrian dining table, wood panelling and bar area. Across the hall, the spacious lounge has plenty of comfy sofas and armchairs to sink into, all gathered around an open fire, just the spot to put your feet up after a long walk in the Caledonian Forest. You’ll find everything you’ll need to rustle up big family dinners in the kitchen, including a dishwasher and a wine fridge, and it's linked directly to the dining room.
The bedrooms are all upstairs with two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first floor. The main bedroom features a luxurious super-king size bed and lovely views over the garden and the village High Street. Across the hall, there’s another bedroom with a double bed and two sleeping pods which are perfect for kids. They’re equipped with reading lights, each has its own TV and DVD player and they offer a bit of privacy. More of these pods are located in the bedroom over the kitchen which also has another double bed. At the top of the house, you’ll find two double rooms tucked away under the eves with fantastic views from the bay windows.
On sunny days, cook outside on the BBQ in the covered cooking area and gather everyone together around the outdoor dining table. This space is also great in the evenings with soft lighting, a hot tub, bar seating and the beautiful dark skies overhead, perfect for a bit of star gazing.
The lodge is located on the High Street of Grantown-on-Spey, just a stone’s throw from the shops, pubs and restaurants. You’ll be able to set out on foot or by bike straight into the surrounding countryside for forest walks through Anagach Woods or mountain biking along the trails. Any keen fishermen will want to head to the River Spey which offers excellent fly fishing and the town of Aviemore, which is a bit of a hub for outdoor sports, is also just a short drive away. There are also endless opportunities for outdoor activities in the Cairngorms National Park from canoeing to hiking and even snow sports in the winter.
