The detail

Set perched on the banks of one of the Cotswold Water Park’s lakes, At Watersedge is a spacious lodge, perfect for family trips to the countryside. It featured recently on Alan Carr’s Interior Design Masters and was refurbished by the winner of the series to create a contemporary space that invites you to relax and soak up the natural surroundings. Spend your days exploring the lakes with watersports, nature trails and fishing all on your doorstep or head out into the charming towns and villages of the Cotswolds. In the evening, relax on the deck with a drink or enjoy a dip in the hot tub while you watch the sunset over the water.

Inside the lodge, you’ll find a spacious, open plan living, kitchen and dining area with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lake and flooding the interior with natural light. On sunny days, open up the sliding doors and extend your living space outdoors onto the deck which extends over the lake. On chillier evenings, snuggle up on one of the sofas with the underfloor heating on and a good film on the TV.

There’s a well-equipped kitchen to the rear of the space with everything you’ll need for a self-catering trip. The double-height dining space is perfectly positioned for enjoying the view while you tuck into dinner or you can take your meals to the seating area outside. There’s also a handy utility room and a cloakroom on the ground floor so you can easily store and wash your outdoor kit.

There are three bedrooms in total, comfortably accommodating up to six guests. There’s a cosy double room on the ground floor with a luxurious king size bed and a stylish ensuite shower room. Head up the stairs and you’ll find a landing space with views out to the lake where you can curl up with a book. The main bedroom has a king size bed and full-height windows with sliding doors out onto a balcony. This is the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee in the morning as the lake comes to life around you or a glass of something before dinner in the evening. The final bedroom can be set up as a twin or with a king size bed and both of the upstairs rooms have their own ensuites.

When the sun is shining, head out onto the large, fully-enclosed deck and make the most of the beautiful surroundings. Relax in the hot tub or rustle up a BBQ while soaking up the scenery. You’ll have direct access onto the lake for boating or kayaking and you can also fish directly from the deck.

There’s plenty to do in the Cotswold Water Park itself with a network of walking and cycling trails to help you explore. Along the way, keep an eye out for the many bird species that live here, or explore the waterways in a kayak or on a paddleboard. For a change of scene, head out into the rolling countryside of the Cotswolds and stroll through peaceful villages with charming architecture and independent shops and cafes. South Cerney and Cerney Wick are both within walking distance with some friendly pubs and plenty of country charm.
