The Detail...
Adding a touch of retro glamour to the Cotswolds, the Warwick Knight Caravan at the Glamping Orchard will really get you talking. A grand 1950s model, fully renovated and now featuring its own rooftop garden, this gorgeous caravan is a place for the whole family to make some memories.
When you walk up through the orchard and set eyes on the Warwick Knight, you will instantly be struck by its eye-catching spiral staircase, leading you up to the roof terrace. There’s space to sit out and admire the 360° views across the Severn Vale which, as there’s room for four inside, can be a real family experience. Enjoy the sun by day, or the peace and quiet of the Gloucestershire countryside by night.
The interior is full of surprises too, with the space optimised for cosy luxury. While the Knight has kept its cool mid- 20th century look on the outside, inside you’ll find everything you need for the modern day. A spacious kitchen with a gas cooker, hob and fridge is equipped with the essentials you’ll be looking for on arrival – tea, coffee, milk and more. If you prefer to dine outside, you’ll find a fire pit ready and waiting for some barbecue action under the stars.
Comfy nights are taken care of by a double bed dressed with luxury linens, plus two child-friendly bunk bed pods. There’s even room for a tiny fifth guest, with space for a cot next to the double.
A log-burner in the seating area keeps things warm when you need it, and on sunny days you can open up the windows and let the light and fresh air flood in. Grab a book or tune in to the radio complete with USB port and Bluetooth… you really will feel right at home. A private WC is just next the caravan, and your own wood-fired shower and sink facilities lie within 25 metres.
The orchard’s location is a fine base for exploring the area’s beautiful towns and villages. Nearby Berkeley, home of Berkeley Castle, and the Regency spa town of Cheltenham are among the local highlights. Upmarket and culturally vibrant, Cheltenham offers live entertainment and great shopping in elegant surroundings. Bohemian Stroud, historic Cirencester and Tetbury – close to the vast National Arboretum, Westonbirt – provide yet more reasons to venture out.
So Warwick Knight is really helping to put glamping firmly on the map in Gloucestershire. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy a stay in this labour-of-love renovation – it’s thought there are only three of these magnificent 50s vans left in existence, and the Warwick’s reputation is growing fast.
