The detail

Completed in 2018, Villa Paradisa - the home of an architect - is a modernist marvel. This is evidenced in both its contemporary exterior and its beautifully decorated interior. It is surrounded by 1200 square metres of landscaped gardens, overlooks an adjacent golf course, and is just 300m from the Atlantic coast. If that wasn't enough, guests will have their own private swimming pool where they can enjoy the warmth of the sun in style. With seven ensuite bedrooms, this coastal gem sleeps a total of 14 guests. Near to a host of amenities including golf courses, tennis courts, cycling paths, woodland and the Club Med village, this is the perfect getaway for friends and family members of all ages.

The house's main communal space is open planned and bathed in natural light, courtesy of floor to ceiling sliding glass doors on two sides. The sitting area has two large, comfy couches while the dining table has seating for up to 10. The kitchen is of a sleek and minimalist composition, with ample workspace and two ovens. A separate living room has a large sofa pointed at a flat screen TV.

The villa benefits from seven bedrooms: six doubles and one twin. Each of the bedrooms have their own ensuite for extra privacy, while four have their own private terraces, where guests can enjoy the summer sunshine with a morning coffee. Guests can also step out through the main living area's sliding patio doors and onto the gorgeous terrace area. It has plenty of outdoor seating - for both lounging and dining - and looks out onto beautiful woodland. There is also a charming welcome garden and a luxurious outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers.

If relaxing by the pool, enjoying the panoramic views of the surrounding forest or enjoying the nearby beach aren't your thing, the local area is replete with things to keep you occupied. There is a nine-hole golf course on site, with another 18-hole course 5km away. Other nearby activities include tennis courts, surfing lessons, tree-climbing, paintballing, an equestrian centre and over 60km of cycle paths in the 10,000-hectare forest. Also nearby is La Palmyre Zoo. For a slice of urban living, take a 20-minute drive to the coastal resort town of Royan. Almost completely destroyed in 1945, Royan is now a thriving tourist hub, serving as an outstanding example of 1950s modernist architecture.
