The detail

This boutique hotel is sat in Arraiolos, a small city in the capital of Alentejo, the largest province in Portugal. This part of the country is famous for its unspoiled and beautiful scenery and is one of the last spots in this part of the world where you have access to kilometres and kilometres of nature and wilderness. Alentejo is also known for its historic treasures and the peace and tranquility all around. Villa Extramuros offers guests the chance to be at one with this way of life, allowing them to relax and unwind in a truly wonderful setting, surrounded by gorgeous views.

This stunning hotel has pure white walls and large open spaces that ensure it has a contemporary, cutting edge feel. This is strengthened further thanks to the modern, comfortable furniture and the fixtures and fittings in place to ensure your stay is as enjoyable and luxurious as possible. The place is also decorated with an eye for detail, and there’s plenty of stylish furniture and art ranging from the 1950s to the current day.

The large, open plan living room has floor-to-ceiling windows offering lovely views as well as sliding doors to an outdoor terrace, perfect for some alfresco dining. There’s also a fireplace to keep you warm when it’s cold outside. Outside there’s a swimming pool with a deck, a great spot for cooling down in the mid afternoon sunshine. The pretty garden also has orange trees, and views onto olive fields and meadows. Gaze at the view and immerse yourself in your wonderful surroundings. Lovely, comfy bedrooms offer a great night’s sleep and all have their own unique views and private en suite bathrooms. The hotel also offers guests a lovely breakfast including fresh fruit juices, local or home-made pastries, homemade marmalades, locally produced honey and cheese, and much more.

If you don’t want to spend your days relaxing by the pool then you can make the most of a number of great ways to spend your time. Wander the 5 hectares of parkland that are included in the hotel’s grounds and stroll among oaks and olive trees. Take a book with you and read in the sunshine, or maybe even go for a picnic among the birds and other pretty wildlife. Guests can also venture slightly further afield and visit some stunning beaches that are around a fifty minute drive from the hotel. Guests can also enjoy horse rides, mountain biking trips, and plenty of other activities that can be done nearby.
