You’ll find your cosy private cabin set in Cove Valley which is a rewilding project aimed at letting nature do its own thing and rewild naturally. This 130-acre reserve on the edge of Exmoor National Park brings nature back to life and will do the same for you should you decide to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reconnect with the natural landscape in this beautiful setting. Your cabin, Ukai, which means deep valley, is nestled in a secluded and remote spot deep within the forest and provides a tranquil disconnect from the outside world. This unique experience will give you a sense of peaceful seclusion within an oasis of trees.
The charming and comfortable interiors offer a rustic folky ambience in colours that reflect the landscape surrounding it. The natural materials and shades of blues and greens echo nature’s palette and provide a reassuring sense of being in harmony with your habitat. The thoughtful design of the cabin ensures that you’ll have everything you’ll need for the most relaxing break.
The king size bed is warm and welcoming and a vast sprawling sofa is the perfect place to curl up with a book or lay back and listen to the birdsong. A wood-burning stove will keep you snug on chilly evenings and there are books, games and a radio on hand to keep you entertained. The luxuriously tiled shower room provides steaming hot showers and complimentary toiletries while the well-equipped kitchen is more than capable of coping with romantic dinners for two. Antiques and curios scattered throughout lend a quirky and interesting air.
Outside, you’ll find seating on a wooden decked area where you can breathe in the fresh forest air and reconnect with nature. Light the chiminea and grill up some tasty treats while you enjoy the sights and sounds of the wildlife around you. A further wooden platform set aside from your cabin holds a wood-fired hot tub where you can luxuriate in the warm water while listening to the relaxing sound of the tinkling stream nearby.
Take time out to explore the site with designated trails to follow and opportunities for close encounters with nature. Easily accessible from your cosy cabin, Exmoor’s wild and diverse landscape suggests an area far more remote. Rocky headlands, high coastal cliffs, soft green valleys, wooded hills and fresh cold rivers and streams all abound in a relatively small area and are waiting to be discovered. Walking is a top activity in the area and for those who prefer a little more adrenaline-fuelled fun, there’s mountain biking, riding, kayaking, wild swimming and climbing to enjoy nearby.
