- Tommy Bit sleeps up to two guests in a 4ft x 6ft3 fold-down double bed, which converts into a sofa while remaining fully made up.
- The hut is pet free and smoking is not permitted.
- There is no television and indoor cooking facilities are limited to a microwave, toaster and kettle, with a fire pit/BBQ available outside.
- A spacious private shower room is located adjacent to the shepherd’s hut.
- The hot tub can be booked for exclusive use by the day for an additional charge.
- The usual arrival days are Monday and Friday and there is a minimum three-night stay.

Tucked beneath a wooded fellside in a peaceful corner of the Lake District, Tommy Bit is a charming shepherd’s hut for two where woodland walks, evenings around the fire and beautiful valley views are all part of the experience. Known affectionately as ‘yer la’al yam’ – your little home – the hut takes its name from one of Manesty’s old fields and has been thoughtfully designed in the spirit of the traditional huts once wheeled into the fields by shepherds for the summer.
Measuring a wonderfully cosy 11ft by 6ft6, Tommy Bit is clad in English oak on the outside with warm English larch and oak detailing within. Antiques and vintage finds add plenty of character, while a wood burning stove keeps things snug after a day exploring the surrounding countryside. The full-length double bed has a comfy sprung mattress, anti-allergy bedding and folds away, fully made up, to create a sofa during the day. There’s also a folding table and stools, storage and a Belfast-style sink with hot and cold water.
You can prepare simple bites inside using the microwave, toaster and kettle, with a silent fridge keeping your supplies chilled. For something a little more memorable, head outside and fire up the fire pit/BBQ, with wood and cooking equipment provided. Settle down at the outdoor table and chairs or perch on the solid oak bench, made from one of the property’s own trees, and enjoy dinner accompanied by views across the valley.
A spacious private shower room sits adjacent to the hut, complete with a rain head shower and big fluffy towels. It also has a washing machine and drying space, handy if you’ve been out adventuring.
