  The Detail...

Gorgeously quaint, Tommy Bit is a traditionally styled shepherds hut that has been wheeled into the small wooded fellside of Manesty in Borrowdale, offering you the chance to live at one with nature in peace and quiet.

Suitable for two guests, the wooden-panelled hut is carefully furnished to make the most of the snug space. Antiques and vintage items give the hut a charming, warm and inviting atmosphere, which is helped along by a wood burning stove to keep you toasty and warm.

The shepherd's hut has a full length-double bed with allergy free bedding and a proper spring mattress, just like at home. It cunningly folds away into a comfy sofa during the day, making the best use of the space. Underneath, storage space and vintage suitcases means keen hikers can tuck away boots and walking gear during their stay. There is also a tiny retired trailer next to the shepherds hut for storing other larger items it used to spend its time driving sheep around the valley.

The shower room (with loo) is about 50m away from the hut. It is shared occasionally by other guests, but is only regularly used by guests in Tommy Bit. Soft fluffy white bath sheets and hand towels are provided upon arrival, and a rechargeable torch means guests dont need to worry about going in the dark!

The true highlight offered by Tommy Bit is the propertys gorgeous natural surroundings. There are beautiful woodland and valley views on offer from the hut and just behind, metres away, is Manestys wooded fellside garden which shelters a plethora of wildlife. Its little woodland walk gives wonderful panoramic views across Borrowdale.

Guests can enjoy al fresco dinners, using the outdoor fire pit to barbeque or just for atmosphere. All the wood you need is provided. Around the firepit are tables, chair and a solid oak bench area which was crafted a nearby tree which fell during a storm. There is also an outdoor hot tub, which can be booked for exclusive use by the day. This rare luxury offers you the chance to relax and unwind in style.

Tommy Bit is the ideal base to explore a plethora of walkways in the Lake District, with the famous Catbells walk right on your doorstep. More of the national park's gems are easily accessed by foot or car. A great place for couples looking for a romantic hideaway, this charming shepherd's hut offers rest and relaxation in the heart of some of Britain's most glorious countryside.
