The stylishly converted Tobacco Barn could be straight out of a glossy interiors magazine, such is its effortless chic. A 5 minute drive from the historic 13th century Bastide town of Monpazier, there’s room for 10 in this impressive poolside gem, one of Dordogne’s most essential discoveries.
Verdant views over the Aquitaine countryside surround the Tobacco Barn, with an acre of private grounds and that private saltwater swimming pool right outside. It’s as stunning on the inside too, with handmade furniture and high-spec fittings throughout. Opening out on to the front terrace, the spacious living area has huge, comfy sofas and an innovative feature fireplace.
Sleek and streamlined, the monochrome kitchen with oven, fridge, freezer and dishwasher has all you need to cook, while the cosy dining area is an attractive focal point for your group to get together. Two of the four bedrooms enjoy en suite facilities, with big baths and showers, luxuriously appointed – check out the funky tiling. The two remaining bedrooms enjoy use of a separate upstairs bathroom, one of these rooms ideal for children or single friends.
The interior designer’s eye is evident throughout the property, with no detail ignored. The green lawns outside are perfect for al fresco dining, with the fragrant aroma of French lavender in the air. You’ll be tempted to stick a sun lounger by the 10m pool and just dream the day away.
Nearby Monpazier is one of France’s prettiest villages, with the centrepiece Place des Cornières and 13th century St Dominique’s Church and former tithe barn Chapter House among its key historic attractions. Rustic as it gets, be sure to explore the arches around the square, part of this beautifully preserved piece of mediaeval French history.
A lovely bistro restaurant in the village is sure to become a favourite for enjoying the local cuisine, Périgourdine foie gras, truffles and, of course, Bergerac wine among the area’s specialities.
A picturesque 45 minute drive from Bergerac Airport, the hilltop Tobacco Barn’s British owners have thought of everything you could ask to make this an amazing property you will want to return to.
