Nestled on a pretty farm on a Welsh hillside and boasting sprawling views out to the Cambrian mountains, The Train Carriage is a one of a kind timber chalet-style space, designed and built by the owners, and available to rent on a self-catered basis. With a large main raised bed built into the space and additional raised sleeping space for up to two more guests, The Train Carriage is a dreamy and delightful getaway either for couples looking for a romantic, pared down, rural experience, or adventurous young families seeking to spend quality time together in a rugged but comfortable destination.
The space itself is charming, built from sustainable local materials, and packed with fab design features. The Train Carriage is kept snug in the colder months by a wood-burning stove, fed with local logs, and in the summer months it stays cool and light-filled throughout the day. The built-in bed faces a large window with staggeringly beautiful views, and each aesthetic and architectural decision, from the two-burner hob to the domed ceiling, has been made with beauty, comfort and pleasure in mind.
The space is insulated with sheep's wool in the cavities, and benefits from a living roof, with sedum which the local pollinators love. Days are spent exploring the farm, hiking or biking over the surrounding hills and valleys, and checking out the surrounding towns and villages. From your first cup of coffee in the morning until you end the evening gazing up at the clear, starry skies, you'll be sure to love this absolutely amazing location.
In the summer months, why not pack a picnic full of local delicacies and head out into the green blooming hills? And by winter you can wrap up warm and strike out for long walks, followed by a visit to a historic local pub. The valley is stunning to behold in every season, and there really is nothing quite like snuggling up with a book or a board game inside, and looking out through the picture windows at the greenery all around.
While the main draw of the property is the beauty and wildness of the surrounding area, there are plenty of amenities on the farm itself, which is also set up for yurt glampers. The farm shop stocks fantastic local produce, and just a short walk away you can find a great local gastropub, the perfect place for a pint of local ale, a brilliant slap up meal, or even a takeaway to bring back to the firepit. Further afield, there are all of the region's pleasures and activities, from watching the dolphins in Cardigan Bay to birdwatching in the wildflower meadows.
