The Salt Shack is an eco-friendly and architecturally striking new build just a few minutes’ walk from Bracklesham Bay in West Sussex. Large landscaped gardens and a bright and spacious interior make this a laid back base for a beach holiday with friends or family. The house has been built with the environment in mind and is powered by solar panels and an air-sourced heat pump. After a day enjoying the beach and maybe even a paddle out on the waves, come back to a barbecue in the garden and a relaxed evening in front of the fire pit or wood burner.
Inside, you’ll find big open plan living spaces inviting you to kick back and relax. It’s been decorated throughout using light tones and natural wood detailing, giving it a real beach house feel. The kitchen, living and dining area enjoys plenty of natural light thanks to the big sliding doors out onto the garden and rooflights in the high ceilings. Comfy sofas are gathered around a contemporary wood burner and a smart TV, perfect for cosy evenings in after a day at the beach.
There are three bedrooms, one king-size ensuite room and two which can be set up as twin or super-king rooms. All of the bedrooms are spacious and relaxing with crisp white bed linen and soft lighting. The master ensuite has a contemporary bathroom with a large walk-in shower and the other two rooms share a large bathroom with both a bath and a walk-in shower.
Designed to help you enjoy outdoor living and a relaxed beach lifestyle, the garden features a large terrace complete with a comfortable lounger and a hammock. The centrepiece is an ancient olive tree, surrounded by a bar where you can pull up a stool and enjoy a drink in the evening. There’s a fire pit area with custom-built timber seating and a grill so you can cook over the fire. After a day at the beach, wash off the salt and sand in the outdoor rainwater shower and you’ll find plenty of space for your beach gear in the shed.
The house is just a short stroll from Bracklesham Bay, a large sand and shingle beach with views across to the Isle of Wight in the distance. This is a great spot for having a go at some water sports with everything from open water swimming to sailing on offer. Diving is also popular in the bay and you can see the remains of a tank from a Second World War practice operation under the water. If you fancy a change of scene, the beautiful and sandy West Wittering beach is just down the coast.
