Looking for holiday accommodation with a difference? This beautifully restored Edwardian Norfolk signal box offers oodles of charm and first class accommodation in a pretty rural setting. Renovated to an extremely high standard, you and your significant other will be bowled over by this unique and unusual dwelling.
Formerly the main signal box at Wymondham station and dating back to 1900, the building was moved to its present location in 2000, where it now lives in the grounds of the owners property. Lovingly renovated by the current owners, The Signal Box offers an “upside down” layout with an open plan living area on the first floor that captures the superb views out over open countryside and cottage gardens. With not one, but two ponds, garden furniture for alfresco dining and your very own barbecue, you can make the most of those gardens all year round.
But it’s not just the garden that will leave you speechless. The interior space has been carefully crafted to transform a dull and functional space into a truly charming feast for the senses.
Step inside and into the lower ground floor, where a beautiful bedroom and en-suite bathroom awaits. Perfect for relaxing after a long day exploring the countryside setting, the room comes complete with wooden floors and high quality hard wood furniture. Soft linens welcome you in a comfortable and cosy bedroom, that also has storage and hanging space for you to make it feel like home during your stay. The ensuite is bright and modern, offering a shower cubicle, a washbasin and a WC. The lower ground floor also benefits from cleverly positioned and wonderfully discreet high windows, that offer privacy, as well as light, and a stunning garden view.
The main sitting area is open plan and beautifully designed. With a soft, sumptuous sofa to sit back and enjoy the Smart TV with Freesat and built-in radio, as well as a folding dining table and chairs for enjoying a home cooked meal for two. You can also warm yourselves on the portable real flame stove, that will keep you super cosy on chillier evenings. The compact kitchen has an electric oven and two ring hob, fridge with icebox, microwave and wine cooler. Yes, you even have your very own wine cooler! There is also access to a freezer in the adjacent shed.
Whilst the views from the house are sublime, don’t forget to get out and enjoy nature firsthand. The tranquil setting will tempt you out to enjoy long walks, and immerse yourself in the peace and quiet.
With quiet country lanes and rolling countryside as far as the eye can see, The Signal Box is the perfect base from which to go walking and cycling or try a spot of birdwatching. If you are feeling peckish, why not pop into the nearby village of Melton Constable, with its well renowned butcher's shop selling award winning sausages.
Just north, the stunning Norfolk coastline beckons, with traditional seaside villages like Blakeney, Wells-next-the-Sea, Cromer and Sheringham all just a short drive away, or soak up some culture in the elegant Georgian town of Holt with its art and antique galleries.
