The Details

This charming romantic retreat is tucked away in the rolling hills of the Yarrow Valley, and offers couples the chance to escape the trappings of day-to-day life. Embrace the slower pace of life and be at one with nature, as you unwind in style with your loved one.

Picture-perfect and peacefully remote, The Scullery blends timeless countryside charm with thoughtful interiors and luxurious touches. Set on the historic Ladhope Farmhouse estate, originally rebuilt in 1850 by the Duke of Buccleuch, this hideaway is surrounded by ancient woodlands, pastureland and an ever-changing backdrop of rural Scottish life.

When you enter, you’ll step through the traditional stable door to a home full of soft textures, warm tones and perfectly curated corners. Antique finds and vintage gems sit alongside contemporary comforts to create a space where history and design blend perfectly.

While away your days relaxing on the super-comfy sofa in the stylish lounge or enjoy a movie night on the smart TV, as full-fibre WiFi keeps you connected. However, thanks to the stunning location and the peace and tranquility around you, you shouldn’t be surprised if you forget to log on.

The kitchen is stunning, with exposed stone walls, a beautiful white countertop and deep red cabinets. It’s also nicely equipped with everything you need to prepare delicious meals during your stay.

When night falls, the bedroom is a calming oasis with a fabulous king size bed that all but guarantees a peaceful night’s sleep. The Scullery also has a delightful bathroom where pure period charm meets modern indulgence with Fired Earth tiles, a modern rainfall shower and locally made Scottish toiletries.

On warm days open your stable door to a secret courtyard framed by native hedging and chestnut fencing. This is a private nook designed for slow mornings and peaceful evenings as you listen to the gentle burble of Ladhope Burn, while red squirrels, roe deer and black-faced sheep visit your doorstep. Surrounded by Scotch Pines, ancient oaks and storybook pastureland, The Scullery offers you the chance to unwind in truly stunning surroundings.

If you venture out and explore, this tranquil spot places you within easy reach of serene lochs, vibrant market towns and world-class outdoor pursuits. From fly-fishing on legendary rivers to hillwalking, cycling and castle-hopping, every day offers something new to discover. Whether seeking adrenaline, history or simply a deeper connection to nature, The Scullery is perfectly placed for unforgettable experiences in one of Scotland’s most captivating regions.
