Explore the rugged Scottish landscape with a stay at the beautiful Salmon House. This recently refurbished stone cottage sleeps four and is your gateway to the Highlands. The cosy former farmhouse is packed full of historic character but with modern touches, and is the perfect base for walking, cycling, exploring Perthshire or simply relaxing in stunning surroundings.
Located in the picturesque village of Fortingall in Glen Lyon, The Salmon House is your cosy escape from the wilds of the Scottish Highlands or the hustle and bustle of modern living. On those cold and windy days, the log burner in the living area crackles and creates an inviting glow. Warm cold bones and rest tired legs on the deep, comfy sofas and enjoy a dram of whiskey as you reflect on a day spent outside. In the warmer months, open the patio doors and take in the sights and sounds of the Scottish countryside. There’s plenty of space for kids to run around in the large, rugged and inviting shared garden. But if you’d rather have some privacy, your own private patio with garden furniture is the perfect spot to recharge.
Create culinary delights in the fully-fitted modern kitchen that boasts a farmhouse style. After dinner, enjoy your own private garden or head up to the terraced, upper garden for more space and even more spectacular views. Watch the sunset over the hills with a plate of food and a drink or two before retiring to bed. Set in the roof, the cosy bedrooms boast a double bed or twin singles, all adorned with luxury bedding. After a long day exploring, a soak in the deep, freestanding bath is just what the doctor ordered.
As morning dawns, natural light comes in through the skylights as you see the hills poke through the mist. Awake to fresh coffee and a hearty breakfast ready to explore Perthshire. The village of Fortingall is perfectly located at the Eastern end of Glen Lyon, the longest enclosed glen in Scotland. Don’t forget to visit the Fortingall Yew, one of the oldest trees in Britain at over 5000 years old!
Spend your days hiking or cycling in the hills of the glen or in the warmer weather, swim or kayak in the River Lyon. Further afield, visit the beautiful Loch Lyon, Loch Tay or Loch an Daimh. Explore Aberfeldy, Birnam or Blairgowrie and Rattray to experience traditional Scottish towns, or wander the streets and historic buildings of Perth before settling down for a bite to eat.
