The details

The Pinkney is a beautifully designed countryside hideaway where long outdoor baths, huge skies and uninterrupted rural views set the pace for a wonderfully relaxing escape. Part of Kip & Nook, this boutique cabin has been created just for two, combining quiet luxury with a real sense of connection to the surrounding landscape. Wake slowly with views across the fields, spend lazy afternoons soaking outside and watch the Northern skies change colour as evening draws in.

Inside, the cabin feels calm, considered and quietly indulgent. Natural finishes and softly layered interiors create a soothing backdrop, while a bespoke piece of artwork commissioned especially for The Pinkney captures the ever-changing Northern skies outside. The king size bed is positioned so you can make the most of those wonderful countryside views, meaning mornings can begin with coffee in bed as you gaze out across the fields.

There’s also a stylish indoor bathroom with high-spec fittings, a shower and toilet. However, the real treat awaits outside. Slip into your private outdoor bath and soak in the fresh country air, with nothing but open fields stretching out in front of you. A fire pit and outdoor seating give you another excuse to linger outside, whether you’re settling in with a drink at golden hour or wrapping up warm for an evening beneath the stars.

You’re also just a short stroll from Kip & Nook’s excellent shared facilities. Head to the Workshop for breakfast, drinks or dinner, book a yoga or Pilates class or embrace the hot-and-cold contrast of the sauna and ice bath. There’s also a padel court for something more energetic and a private cinema room for cosy nights with popcorn and a film.

When you fancy venturing further, the surrounding Yorkshire and Durham countryside offers plenty to discover. Walk beside the River Swale and explore Billy Bank Woods, visit the atmospheric ruins of Easby Abbey or head into Upper Teesdale to see Low Force. The Bowes Museum, Hamsterley Forest and Durham Cathedral are also within reach, while the wider region is packed with pretty market towns, woodland walks and glorious countryside to explore before returning to your peaceful cabin for another long soak beneath the Northern sky.
