São Miguel Island, Portugal
Stunning pink three bedroom barn conversion in one of Portugal’s most beautiful regions with vast outdoor areas.
The Pink House Azores is listed in affiliation with Airbnb.
In the gorgeous Azores region of Portugal, Pink House is an extraordinarily beautiful converted barn which has been in the same family for six generations. Renovated in 2017 to its current iteration, a light and airy open plan space, with three bedrooms and a subtle, understated aesthetic, Pink House is the perfect getaway for groups of couples, friends and families looking to spend time together in one of Portugal’s most stunning areas.
Pink House boasts its own private courtyard, exclusively yours for the duration of your stay, with the comfort of being walled in. The three bedrooms offer four beds between them, and all are located on the ground floor. Expect contemporary, minimalist décor and furniture, soft beds, clean lines and a strong sense of architectural precision and Mediterranean calm.
Upstairs on the ground floor you’ll find the perfect self-catering kitchen, with everything you need to whip up a light picnic or a full blown slap up evening meal for six. On this upper floor there is also the terrace, where many guests find themselves spending the majority of their trip, chatting over coffee, local wine, and brilliant seafood. The living room is also on this floor, with its exposed overhead rafters, high ceilings, and large television opposite the spacious sofa. Everything about this former barn has been judiciously envisaged, designed and fitted, resulting in a unique space which combines contemporary subtlety with warmth and comfort. Lounge in the open garden with close friends, or siesta in one of the spacious, elegant bedrooms, surrounded by blonde wood, houseplants and poured concrete.
Visiting the Azores is a truly life-changing experience which has to be undertaken to be truly appreciated. Comprising an archipelago of volcanic islands, this is one Europe’s most breathtakingly beautiful regions, with a perfect climate all year round. Travellers are drawn to the miles of unspoiled coastline, the genial, laid back atmosphere in the bars and restaurants, and the tranquillity. Fajã de Baixo is a small settlement, with a handful of great eateries and drinking spots within easy reach. Check out the old pineapple plantation, or pack a picnic and head to the beach for a perfect day out, before heading back to the terrace to take in the sunset before tapas. Boats trips are a popular activity, while breakfast with goats is a kooky and delightful local experience.
