The highlights

The detail

This delightful end of terrace house has been beautifully decorated and offers comfort and a warm welcome to families and friends seeking a stylish getaway close to all that historic Oxford has to offer. Upon entering you'll be struck by how colourful, cheerful and light this property is. Chock full of character and thoughtful details, you'll want to drop your bags and explore the whole house.

Gather in the bright and sunny kitchen around the large central island for a welcome drink. Modern and fully equipped with everything you could need for a short or long stay, it's a lovely spot to hang out with a cup of tea and make plans. A stunning sky light bathes the space and there is a fabulous sun room just off the kitchen where you can lounge on the comfy chairs and look out over the garden through the patio doors. A perfect place to curl up with a good book or enjoy a morning coffee. There's also a cosy dining room, with table and chairs for six, which is ideal for long lazy suppers with plenty of wine.

After dinner you can relax in the living room which has two plush mustard velvet sofas and a peacock blue armchair. There's a flat screen TV if you fancy a movie, and with the red rug, big plant, and pretty art on the walls it will feel like a home from home.

When it's time for bed, head up the stairs to the first floor where you'll find three bedrooms, all equally lovely. Depending on your arrangements, there's a super-king, a king and a single. The two larger rooms have plenty of storage and the single comes with its own ensuite shower room. Crisp linens, soft blankets and plump cushions promise a deep and restful night's sleep before the adventures begin. The first floor is also home to a family bathroom that will delight everyone. There's a lovely free-standing bath for long bubbly soaks and a separate walk-in deluge shower for a refreshing start to the day.

Head down to the sunlit kitchen for that first cup of coffee and throw some croissants in the oven. If the weather is clement you might like to head out to the private enclosed garden and enjoy your breakfast in the fresh air. The garden has been beautifully designed and has plenty of seating options.

There are lots of nice walks close to the property and you'll be just over a mile from Oxford city centre, which is a an easy walk, but if the weather isn't great there's a regular bus service from nearby Cowley Road where you'll also find many shops and restaurants if you want to keep things super local. For walkers, the hosts recommend a stroll along the River Thames, Aston's Eyot and The Kidney nature reserves. Take some pictures at Magdalen Bridge and pop into the Oxford Botanic Gardens. Your nearest pub will be The Magdalen Arms only a short walk away and just a minute further you'll find Ollie's Thai, Ellie's Deli and the Magic Cafe for good coffee and great cake.
