Nestled on a pretty farm on a Welsh hillside and boasting sprawling views out to the Cambrian mountains, The Moon Cocoon is a one of a kind timber chalet-style space, designed and built by the owners. With a large main raised bed built into the space and additional raised sleeping space for up to two more guests, The Moon Cocoon is a dreamy and delightful getaway either for couples looking for a romantic, pared down, rural experience or adventurous young families seeking to spend quality time together in a rugged but comfortable destination.
The space itself is charming, built from sustainable local materials, and packed with fab design features. The Moon Cocoon is kept snug in the colder months by a wood-burning stove, fed with local logs, and in the summer months it stays cool and light-filled throughout the day. The built-in bed faces a large window with staggeringly beautiful views, and each aesthetic and architectural decision, from the two-burner hob to the domed ceiling, has been made with beauty, comfort and pleasure in mind.
The space is insulated with sheep's wool in the cavities, and benefits from a living roof, with sedum which the local pollinators love. Days are spent exploring the farm, hiking or biking over the surrounding hills and valleys, and checking out the surrounding towns and villages. From your first cup of coffee in the morning until you end the evening gazing up at the clear, starry skies, you'll be sure to love this absolutely amazing location. There's also a separate cabin nearby with more cooking equipment, where you can whip up a feast, dine with your loved one or unwind on the big sofa.
On top of this, you will even have your own private sauna to use during your stay. This is the ideal place to relax in style after a day out exploring the area. And, the site also features a superb natural swimming pool (ready in September) where you can be at one with nature as you enjoy a cooling dip in the sunshine.
We're also sure that you will adore the incredible wood-fired bathhouse, which is a real star of the show. Here, a circular stone bath sits in a traditional timber-framed bath house made from branches collected and hewn in the surrounding woodland.
In the summer months, why not pack a picnic full of local delicacies and head out into the green blooming hills? And by winter you can wrap up warm and strike out for long walks, followed by a visit to a historic local pub. The valley is stunning to behold in every season, and there really is nothing quite like snuggling up with a book or a board game inside, and looking out through the picture windows at the greenery all around.
If you venture out, you're a mere 20 minutes from the seaside! Many visitors head to the beach, where they can enjoy dolphin watching in Cardigan Bay. For a laid-back treat, grab a pizza on the beach in Llangrannog or indulge in chips at Aberaeron harbour - both local favourites. Close by, a charming gastropub awaits with local ales and hearty meals, perfect for dining in or taking away to enjoy by the firepit. Beyond this, the region offers birdwatching in wildflower meadows and a wealth of outdoor adventures to explore.
