The details

Curl up next to the wood-burning stove at The Lookout Skye - a cosy retreat on Scotland’s most romantic island, with views of the surrounding countryside, the waters of the Minch, and the Cuillin Mountains around you. At this beautifully designed, eco-friendly home you’ll feel thoroughly looked after with all modern conveniences and a king-sized bed to boot, making this a perfect retreat from a day of exploring the Isle of Skye.

Inside you’ll find The Lookout Skye decorated in neutral, light colours mirroring the surrounding sea, sky and coast. The bedroom sleeps two and has Egyptian cotton sheets ready for your arrival. Adjacent is a large walk in shower, with bathrobes and soft towels. The open plan kitchen/living room has everything you need to cook a delicious feast. In the living area you’ll appreciate a fantastic wood-burning stove for keeping you warm on cool nights and wide windows that look out to land and sea that surrounds you. Step outside onto the deck to take in the night air and gaze at the clear skies above you.

You will be spoilt for choice at this location of things and places to go. We recommend you take a boat trip across Loch Coruisk from Elgol, amidst the dramatic landscape of Cuillins, where you can look for dolphins, eagles and perhaps even an elusive whale. Climb, walk or bike your way around Skye, ‘bag’ a Cuillin, or simply drive over to Dunvegan Castle to hear the history of the MacLeod Clan.

Whisky connoisseurs will love a trip to the Talisker Distillery, home of the world renowned drink, whilst all those called Donald (and those who love them) will appreciate the ‘Clan Donald Skye and the Museum of the Isles’ on the Sleat peninsula. For a luxurious meal, dine at two Michelin-starred restaurant The Three Chimneys, which is uniquely located within a former crofter’s stone cottage, and only a stone’s throw away from your home on the misty Isle.

The Lookout has surpassed our expectations for comfort, cosiness and style. The view must be one of the best I’ve ever experienced; it’s  almost spiritual. A meditation in every sense.

We loved The Lookout!!! What a beautiful place! It is in a quieter part of Skye with less passing traffic & the view from the property over the loch is breathtaking. As we both had a close family bereavement in the last year we wanted a peaceful place to stay & recharge & this was certainly it. We were incredibly lucky with the weather & it was beautiful for most of the week & every night there was a different unique sunset. We also did a bit of stargazing. The property was absolutely spotless, well & thoughtfully equipped with everything you need. The hosts, Lorna & Murray were superb, being at hand to welcome us, answer any questions & also provided a long list of things to do & see. They very thoughtfully provided a welcome package which was much appreciated. I honestly cannot fault this place at all…we loved it. The only slight disappointment was not using the fab log burner as the weather was so warm! We have still lots to see & do in Skye & time was against us so I would say we will definitely be back…thanks again to the hosts.
