The Lodges at Carry Farm

Carry Farm is the kind of place that instantly slows your pace. Set on the wild and beautiful Ardlamont peninsula on Scotland’s west coast, these architect-designed wooden lodges sit between ancient Atlantic woodland and the shimmering waters of the Kyles of Bute. With sweeping sea views, dark skies and a sense of complete escape, this is a restorative retreat where nature takes centre stage.

Each lodge has been thoughtfully crafted by owners Derek and Fiona, alongside a talented family of artists and makers. Inside, you’ll find bright, open-plan living spaces filled with original artwork and tactile textiles that reflect the creative spirit of the farm. Large windows frame ever-changing coastal views, while doors open onto private balconies where you can sip your morning coffee or simply breathe in the fresh sea air.

Heron and Buzzard lodges sleep four and are ideal for couples or small families, offering a double room and a twin, alongside a spacious kitchen and cosy living area. Sandpiper is perfect for larger groups, sleeping six across two double rooms and a twin, with a sociable dining space that makes mealtimes feel extra special. All lodges come with luxurious feather bedlinen, walk-in or rainfall showers, superfast Starlink WiFi and a superb Moccamaster coffee machine paired with locally roasted Argyll Coffee. Large groups travelling together may also wish to book all three lodges at once for a fun group or family getaway. The lodges are beside each other on the shore, and whilst they offer plenty of privacy, you will still feel connected if all staying together.

Life here naturally spills outdoors. Spend your days wandering through hazel woodland where red squirrels dart overhead, exploring wildflower meadows alive with bees and butterflies, or heading down to the beach for sea dips and evening fires. Children can roam freely across 60 acres of coastal wilderness, building dens, feeding donkeys or spotting wildlife, while adults unwind in the peace and quiet.

Carry Farm is also a working smallholding, home to Hebridean sheep, pygmy goats, donkeys and free-range hens. With a strong focus on rewilding and conservation, your stay supports a landscape rich in biodiversity and gentle stewardship.
