Tucked away on a traditional country estate in the heart of the Scottish Borders, The Lodge is surrounded by ancient woodland with views across a field to a river. This peaceful setting is perfect for a romantic escape to the countryside well away from the hustle and bustle. Head out to explore the walled garden, woodlands and fishing opportunities on the estate, visit historic houses and castles nearby or go for long walks and bike rides in the Scottish Borders. Or, simply put your feet up back at The Lodge with a fire going in the wood burning stove and relax in your cosy hideaway.

The cottage has recently been renovated to create a warm and welcoming bolthole with decor that mixes traditional and contemporary styles. There’s an open-plan living, kitchen and dining area that feels bright and spacious during the day and becomes cosy in the evenings with soft lighting and a wood burning stove. You’ll find everything you need to cater for yourselves in the fully equipped kitchen and there’s also a utility room where you’ll find the freezer and the washing machine. After dinner, head over to the living area and pour yourself a drink at the bar area before sinking into the sofa or an armchair in front of the fire.

You’ll find a luxurious king size bed in the bedroom complete with crisp white bedding promising a great night’s sleep. The bathroom features underfloor heating, a shower and a freestanding bath, the perfect spot to relax after a long walk or a bike ride in the Scottish Borders.

On sunny days, enjoy your meals outdoors in the garden to the rear of The Lodge. Enjoy the scenery while you tuck into a delicious lunch with the sound of the stream flowing beneath the building. You’ll also be able to explore the estate which is set on the banks of the River Tweed and is known for its excellent fishing. Have a go yourself or just enjoy a picnic down by the water. There’s also a tennis court as well as walled gardens and woodlands to stroll through.

If you fancy venturing a little further afield there’s plenty to explore in the Scottish Borders. You can set off along quiet country lanes on horseback, off down mountain biking trails or hike up into the Eildon Hills to soak up more of the stunning scenery. For a bit of culture, head to the nearby town of Melrose with its majestic medieval abbey. The charming town of Peebles is also close by where you’ll find boutique shops to browse and plenty of friendly cafes and restaurants to grab a bite to eat.
