Just a 10-minute stroll from the beautiful village and beaches of Milford on Sea, The Little Gatehouse is a romantic hideaway for two. With open-plan living spaces, high ceilings and carefully considered furnishings, this is the perfect spot for a peaceful escape to the seaside. Enjoy a slower pace of life exploring the long stretches of beach or go for a gentle cycle along the coastal path before heading to the village for a delicious lunch or dinner in one of the great restaurants. All before putting your feet up back at The Little Gatehouse in front of the wood-burning stove in the evening.
Inside, you’ll immediately notice that the space has been furnished by an expert. This open and relaxed apartment has been created by a local interior designer, taking inspiration from many different sources. The bedroom area has a distinctly Scandinavian feel while there are vintage French shutters in the living space and wonderful Georgian floorboards. A bespoke Ottoman stool is a centrepiece in the lounge and you’ll also find a fine ceramic Chinese stool amongst the antique furniture. All of these details complement each other beautifully creating a space that feels contemporary and creative.
The open-plan design helps create that relaxed atmosphere with modern up-lighting and a cosy mezzanine that overlooks the lounge area. Only the bathroom is completely shut off from the main space. The kitchen is fully equipped but if you’d rather have a break from the cooking, you’re well catered for in the nearby Milford-on-Sea and Lymington. The bedroom is in the form of a ‘bed box’ and cleverly sectioned off from the rest of the interior to create a comfortable and calming space. The king-size bed is surrounded by calming grey walls, white curtains and painted boards, all beautifully lit to produce a cosy nook you’ll struggle to get out of in the mornings.
Outside, there’s a little private terrace accessed through the bi-fold doors in the living area. This becomes a lovely little sun trap and you’ll find a Victorian garden table and chairs, perfect for a bit of alfresco dining.
Milford on Sea is a pretty seaside village a few miles from Lymington and has a lively atmosphere, especially during the summer months. The beach stretches on for miles and becomes sandy when the tide is out. Colourful beach huts line the seafront and there are plenty of good cafes dotted around and wonderful views of the Isle of Wight as a bonus.

Please expect our short stays to be 60%+ of our week prices. We are not a hotel and it takes a huge amount of work, especially with COVID around, to make the house clean and right for guests. Kids in travel cots stay free.
