The Laslett is a unique hotel set in the heart of Notting Hill on a quiet street of elegant Victorian townhouses. The hotel takes inspiration from the area’s rich cultural history as well as the vibrance of the current local scene. It takes its name from a local activist, Rhaune Laslett, who was the organiser of the first Notting Hill Festival which became the famous Notting Hill Carnival.
There are 51 guest suites and rooms in total set across five beautiful Grade II listed Victorian townhouses. There are five styles of room to choose from, all elegantly furnished with British design pieces, bespoke handmade lighting, curated artworks and vintage curiosities. In the bathrooms, you’ll find luxurious REN amenities and bespoke bathrobes. All the rooms feature The Laslett’s ‘Big Bar’ with full-sized bottles and delicious snacks.
There’s a room to suit every occasion, from luxurious Master Bedroom Suites featuring super-king sized beds, high ceilings and roll-top bathtubs to the Spare Room Singles with their mezzanine level wet rooms. An extra roll-away bed can be requested for the suites and Master Bedrooms so these rooms can accommodate up to three guests.
The ground floor of the hotel is a creative space surrounded by art that features a curated library. There’s also a coffee shop and a shop with pieces from collaborations with designers and artists. The Henderson Bar, named after Trinidadian musician Russell ‘Russ’ Henderson, one of the founding fathers of the Notting Hilld Carnival, offers an exciting menu which evolves daily. Open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, seasonal British dishes, homemade cakes and signature cocktails are all on offer.
As well as playing host to Europe’s biggest street festival, Notting Hill Carnival, this area of London is rich in history and a fascinating mix of culture. Just strolling around the area, you’ll find rows of pretty pastel houses set next to some of the city’s most striking Brutalist buildings. Portobello Road Market is the world’s largest antiques market with more than 1,000 stalls, or there’s the Graffik Gallery where you can admire works by some of street art’s biggest names. If you want to explore more of London, Notting Hill Gate station is just around the corner.
