Ideal for a fabulous group trip with family and friends, the beautiful Gothic exterior of this church, built in 1838, hides a luxurious treat of a getaway. Enter this stunning conversion via the atrium, a breathtaking double height entrance hall with sweeping staircase, and take your Insta snaps immediately before claiming one of the six lovely, roomy bedrooms on the first and second floor.
Make use of one of the three quirky bathrooms, don your finest apparel, and meet your companions in the church. A vaulted living room with gothic windows overlooking the village and open countryside of the Mendip Hills, with views as far as the mystical Glastonbury Tor and the Isle of Avalon. This living area, with its glass wood-burning stove, manages to be both huge and cosy at the same time, and is the perfect spot to gather with a drink and marvel at how well this sort of living suits you. Lounge on the sofa or take yourself off to a comfy armchair in the corner to relax and unwind.
Catch the morning sun in the modern, fully-equipped, 44ft kitchen and cook a feast for (or with) your loved ones. This is a lovely clean, bright, social area for less formal dining and a perfect place to sip your morning coffee.
When you ascend the open-plan double staircase you'll find a spectacular banqueting gallery, with three original stained-glass windows, and a long elegant table, perfect for a grandiose dinner, or fish and chips with fizz.
With plenty of nooks and crannies, you can choose to throw yourself into the party, or take a relaxing minute on your own and enjoy the views. The place is open and airy without feeling cold or impersonal, and the colourful art dotted about adds a modern edge to this beautiful old church.
Outside you'll find a pretty decked courtyard complete with a covered and coveted hot tub for a luxurious soak.
East Horrington is a small village with lots of lovely countryside for long walks and if you want to spend all your time at the Church you can arrange for Sainsbury's to deliver. If, however, you're planning a big night out, Bath is only 35 minutes away, where a huge selection of bars, restaurants and clubs await you. And if you'd like to take advantage of one of its famous spas, we recommend Thermae, who have an open-air pool on the roof!

Leave a reviewI wish I could give this 10 stars!! What an AMAZING place!! We were a group of 13 adults having a mini high school reunion over a long weekend in early October 2022. The Gothic Church fit us all so well- from the sleeping accomodations to the dining accomodations, as well as the hang out space upstairs with fireplace (which we used twice!). Even the hot tub was big! The Gothic Church had everything we needed for cooking our meals, most of which were eaten in the church. We explored the gorgeous town of East Horrington, took a lovely 3+ mile walk to Wells for the Wells Food Festival that was happening that weekend (lucky for us!). We also took a 20+ minute drive to Glastonbury where we climbed the Glastonbury Tor for a breathtaking view from the top! It was a truly unforgettable weekend!! Highly recommend the Gothic Church!! We will come back!!
