The details
Tucked away in the Suffolk countryside, the Lost Gardens Retreat offers a trio of luxury safari tents overlooking a tranquil wildlife lake. Each tent has its own character — playful, rustic, or artistic — yet all share the same mix of comfort, charm and thoughtful design. Whether you’re a couple seeking peace, a family making memories or friends reconnecting in nature, your chosen retreat will feel like it was made just for you.
Step inside and you’ll find a spacious, open-plan interior that feels as cosy in winter as it is airy in summer. A wood-burner glows in the corner, ready for cooler evenings, while vintage books, nostalgic board games and hand-picked curiosities add warmth and personality. The furnishings strike a balance between elegance and playfulness — one tent nods to an old fisherman’s hut, another to a rustic cowshed and another to the golden tones of Gainsborough’s art — but all share a spirit of creativity and comfort.
At night, sink into blissfully soft beds dressed with crisp cotton sheets and thick duvets. Each tent sleeps up to six, with a king size double, a solid wooden bunk room and a cosy built-in cabin bed that’s big enough for grown-ups. In the morning, pad through to your private ensuite bathroom, complete with underfloor heating, heated towel rails, a walk-in shower and a lovingly hand-painted roll-top bathtub.
Meals can be cooked and shared together in the fully-equipped kitchen — complete with gas hobs, fridge freezer, wine cooler and even a dishwasher — or outdoors on the deck, where you’ll find a BBQ, picnic table and views across the lake. When it’s time to unwind, pour a glass of fizz and slip into your private Scandinavian eco hot tub, or light the fire pit and toast marshmallows under the stars.
Every stay includes thoughtful extras: a mini hamper with wine and nibbles, eco firelighters and logs for your burners and luxurious toiletries. If you’d like more, an Honesty Shop on site stocks kindling, charcoal and treats, while hampers of local produce can be delivered straight to your tent.
Beyond the deck, wander through the Lost Gardens themselves, take a wellness class or simply watch the lake from the meditation stumps at dusk. A village pub, country walks and even fine dining are close at hand, while Suffolk’s farms, waterways and cycling routes are begging to be explored. However you spend your day, your tent — unique, inviting and unforgettable — will be waiting for you by the lake.

We had the most wonderful stay in the Artists Retreat. A place to reset, enjoy the peace and beautiful surroundings and spend precious quality family time . Everything you could wish for is there from comfy beds, great shower, perfect swing seat to watch the wind in the trees, bbq and hot tub under the stars. Would highly recommend and hope to back for another stay!

Our first time visiting The Fisherman’s hideaway but it won’t be our last. The location, decor, amenities everything was perfect. We visited for my husband’s birthday and it was just the most wonderful weekend. The hosts are beyond helpful and have thought of every little detail. We can’t wait to return asap.
