The detail
The Cow Shed sits nestled in the idyllic countryside on the Rutland and Lincolnshire border and has been lovingly renovated to provide a private luxurious getaway ideal for couples or solo adventurers with a dog!
This self-contained barn conversion is light-filled and elegant with high vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. It retains its former rustic character with an added layer of modern luxury for the perfect retreat in the countryside.
The interior is all on one level and open plan, decorated in neutral shades with dark blue accents that highlight the wooden elements and give the space an airy welcoming vibe.
The kitchen has a mini farmhouse feel to it with a butler's sink, full sized oven and hob and everything you could need to whip up a delicious meal for two. There's even a dishwasher to make life extra easy. In the summer months you can dine alfresco in your own private and pretty courtyard. And if you fancy an easy night you can throw some sausages on the charcoal BBQ and make yourself comfy by the fire pit as the stars come out above.
For cosy nights in why not rustle up some hot chocolate, light up the wood burner and get comfy in the very cool winged armchairs where you can settle in for a night of movies on the Smart TV.
When you're ready for bed you have a lovely big room with a luxurious king size bed decked out in the finest Egyptian cottons and the warmest duvet. Drift off with nothing but the sound of nature for company and waken to the sun streaming through the window.
Pad into your ensuite, which is beautifully tiled and modern, pop your towel on the heated rail and step beneath the rain head. After a long steaming hot shower wrap yourself in the fluffy towels and head through to the kitchen to make use of the Nespresso machine. You might like to head out into the courtyard, sit at the table with your coffee, enjoy the view making plans for the day.
If you just want to take it easy stroll into the surrounding fields and have a wander in the woodland, it's a wonderfully tranquil start to the day. There are eight acres of land to explore so bring a dog friend and make the most of the idyllic surroundings. The hosts recommend you park yourself on a bench at the edge of the woodland and enjoy a glorious sunset!
Nearby Rutland is England's smallest county and it has so much to offer. Visit Rutland Water, one of Europe's largest man-made lakes where you can fish, enjoy some water sports, cycle and enjoy some stunning walking trails. Visit the surrounding picturesque villages and visit great traditional country pubs. The Olive Branch in Clipsham is an award-winning village pub with incredible food. And if you fancy a good beer and a great pizza try The Six Bells in Witham on the Hill, wood-fired and fabulous! For really fancy food book a table at The Chubby Castor for a seven course sublime supper.
