The details
A spectacular brick and flint Victorian chapel conversion sitting in acres of land, with woodland walks and superb rural views. This extremely spacious, stylish luxury home retains a sense of ecclesiastical grandeur and is bursting with character throughout.
Set in a quiet, wooded corner of the Norfolk countryside, The Chapel offers its guests a heady mix of gothic architecture, pastural setting and modern facilities. Having been painstakingly restored over the course of a seven year project, The Chapel will now comfortably accommodate ten guests in five bedrooms, four of which are situated on the ground floor. Of the five bedrooms, three are en-suite, with a family bathroom serving the remaining two bedrooms.
The generous proportions of the property have allowed the owners to create rooms that capture the imagination of those that stay, by way of its tasteful décor and the eclectic furnishing, embellished with pops of rich colour dotted here and there. Features include original wooden parquet flooring, a grand oak staircase, vaulted ceilings, Portland columns and gothic windows. Stepping outside, you are immediately reminded of the rural location. Mature trees and planting form a calm and contemplative backdrop for al fresco dining. While the back the garden is fully fenced and enclosed, the outer garden and woodland area is not ‘dog-proofed’.
Locally, you’ll find the village of North Elmham just a short drive away. Situated close to the banks of the River Wensum, here you’ll be able to use the village shop for groceries, The Kings Head for meals or just a quiet drink, and the fish and chip shop for a takeaway in front of the fire. For a special occasion, a dinner reservation at the nearby Brisley Bell is highly recommended. Having recently been the recipient of an award at The Great British Pub Awards 2021, a fabulous review in The Telegraph and local food awards.
