Head off the beaten track and reconnect with loved ones at this beautiful family home on the tranquil Cornish seafront. Overlooking a small, sandy cove and the sparkling Gillan Creek, the Boathouse is a peaceful hideout that offers unspoilt seaside bliss. Get outdoorsy with the kids and embark on swashbuckling adventures, or relax on the deck and soak up the breath-taking, coastal vistas. Try rock-pooling, kayaking and sandcastle building, or beach walks, country hikes and barbeques on the seafront.
The Boathouse is set at the end of its own one-track, county lane and is a gorgeous 6-bed retreat in the rural village of Gillan. Its contemporary interiors ooze with a soothing, down-to earth vibe, boasting subtle coastal hues and a classic maritime style. Expect woven seagrass chests and washed-up driftwood, alongside sleek worktops, snug sofas and massive picture windows.
There’s plenty of living areas to socialise with friends, including a comfy lounge, a sprawling games room and an impressive kitchen-diner. Doors open out onto the flourishing gardens where you’ll find a wraparound deck and sublime sea view patios. Dine alfresco in the sunshine and listen to the lulling of the waves or curl up beside the toasty fire and watch the boats bobbing by. There are toys, books and board games to keep the whole family entertained, along with TV’s, WIFI and a DVD player.
When it comes to bedrooms you really are spoilt for choice with an array of super king size doubles, twins and spacious family rooms. Choose from the two en-suite master super king size doubles up on the first floor, another on the ground floor along with a twin. For those with kids, there’s a family room with twin beds and a bunk, or a separate single room with an additional set of bunks. Each room is dressed with sink-in beds and soft linen and has captivating views across the beachfront or gardens.
A few steps past your garden you’ll find your own private slipway to the beach which has a sand and shingle shoreline when the tide disappears. Enjoy a refreshing morning dip in the calm, creek waters or hire a kayak or a dinghy and head out exploring.
The village of Gillan is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is an untouched, coastal gem hidden away from the tourist bustle. The South West Coast Path is right on your doorstep, along with the idyllic Tremayne Quay and lush, woodland areas. There are also plenty of places for day trips out, including Falmouth, Land’s End and the pretty St Ives. But with a secluded, little cove just a few steps away, you’d be forgiven for spending your days hidden away.

Leave a reviewThe Boathouse is just superb! Superb location right by the seashore in a sheltered cove. Yes !- you do actually wake to the sound of the waves lapping on the shore line, step outside onto the extensive decking area to hear more. Admire from inside or outside, the superb view - continually slightly changing as the waves are rippled by the sea breeze and the seabirds decide whether their breakfast or lunch is on the side of the cove by the Boathouse, or opposite ! Suzie is a great host, taking a real pride in ensuring that' her favourite place' is really well fitted out, maintained and improved. Whether you visit in peak or off peak season, the location is a delight! Explore the coastal walks, St Anthony's for it's setting and the boats, Helford and the scenic Shipwrights Arms, the local community pub at Manaccan, just reopened and super friendly, Kota Kai at Porthleven for well and inventively cooked dishes using local ingredients and further afield - The Lizard for bracing coastal walks and a chance to see the seals! We visited five years ago and were so pleased that we managed to sort our diaries out and return to celebrate my birthday, enjoy the tranquillity and in the evenings the lounge made cosy toastie by the woodburning stove ! Can't wait to come back - if you're lucky enough when looking for a place to stay and The Boathouse is available- Book it! You, like us will be delighted!

14 close family came together at the Boathouse to celebrate 2 of our 60ths. 11 adults 3 children. The house was perfect. Even Storm Bert didn’t cause us any issues there. The family room containing the snooker table was a big hit especially because of the weather. It is well equipped, warm & cosy. Having direct access to the beautiful cove’s small beach is fantastic. We even managed short walks on the coastal path that runs along the side of the property. Suzie the host has been a dream to deal with, responsive, helpful & informative. i would love to return in better weather & take advantage of all the house & location has to offer. I have no hesitation in recommending The Boathouse.

A fabulous and very comfortable house in the most wonderful and peaceful location. There are many enjoyable walks from the Boathouse but even in bad weather to watch the sea and the waves crashing just outside the window is fascinating and absorbing. There are some great places to eat nearby, most within walking distance. The house is versatile, great for couples or large family gatherings. We would love to return to the Boathouse and can recommend,
