Hidden away on a working Dorset farm, The Bide is a beautifully designed, hand-built eco cabin where sustainable architecture meets effortless style. Created by an architect and designer duo with a love of nature, this one-of-a-kind retreat invites you to slow down, recharge and reconnect with the land. Picture waking to soft light spilling through the window, gazing out across rolling pastures as cows and sheep graze peacefully beyond.
Inside, craftsmanship and comfort go hand in hand. The cabin’s sleek, sustainable design features FSC timber, sheep’s wool insulation and low-carbon materials throughout. The centrepiece is the luxurious super-king size bed on the mezzanine, handmade by Naturalmat in Devon - organic, chemical-free and supremely comfortable for the deepest of sleeps. Downstairs, the warm wooden interiors wrap around a cosy living area with a cinema projector and curated Spotify playlists, perfect for laid-back evenings in.
Step outside and the scenery takes centre stage. From the wood-fired hot tub, you can soak under wide open skies as dusk settles over the Dorset hills. The firepit is perfectly placed for watching the sunset with a glass of something local — perhaps a bottle from nearby Langham Vineyard — while the optional Gozney pizza oven lets you perfect your pizza skills alfresco.
Life at The Bide is delightfully unhurried. Wander through the woodland coppice, meet the farm’s friendly residents — geese, cows and hens — or follow the scenic Jubilee Trail that runs right past the property. When you’re ready to explore further, there’s a wealth of adventures nearby. Visit Thomas Hardy’s cottage, picnic at Sculpture by the Lakes or climb Bulbarrow Hill for views that sweep across five counties. The Jurassic Coast lies just a 35-minute drive away, where coastal paths and fossil-strewn beaches await.
