The Barn is a warm and welcoming traditional stone-built house set among the stunning landscape of the Lakes. Coniston Water is a five minute drive, Ambleside is 20 minutes away, while the property itself sits in an area known as Atkinson Ground - famous for a literary mention in Swallows and Amazons.
The Barn faces out towards Coniston Water, with huge picture windows making the most of the iconic views. In the stylish open plan kitchen dining area, French doors open out onto the garden and the hills beyond. The kitchen itself comes fully loaded with everything the designated chef could need - a range cooker, American-style fridge freezer, Nespresso machine and an armoury of pots and pans. There's also a handy utility room with washer dryer and space for wet clothes to dry.
The dining table is a fabulous spot for dinner, you can watch the landscape darken and light the log burning stove for added cosiness.
When the weather's fine, there can be few better places for an al fresco meal that the terrace with its large dining table. Drink in the stunning views while you wait for the food to sizzle on the BBQ, or the pizzas to bake in the outdoor pizza oven.
After dinner, kids can play on the lawn while the grown ups can enjoy a glass of something chilled on the sofas by the summer house as the stars come out.
For cosy evenings in, the sitting room on the first floor offers a wonderful outlook over the lake and is at once both rather grand but very snug. The heart of the room is the handsome stone fireplace with large log burner within. Three generous sofas surround it, just right for sinking into after a busy day hiking the fells.
When it's time for bed, choose from one of the property's five luxurious bedrooms, set across both floors. Downstairs there's a kingsize room with views towards the Old Man of Coniston and a large twin room perfect for kids, with a Playstation and table football. You'll also find the generous family-sized bathroom on the ground floor with walk-in shower. Upstairs are a further three bedrooms, two super kingsized rooms with spectacular lake views, and a twin room with wooden floors and a cottage vibe. There's a second family bathroom up here, with a deep freestanding bathtub and a walk-in shower.
For days out, the best of the Lakes is right on your doorstep. The calm shores of Coniston Water are a short stroll away - there's nowhere more beautiful for a wild swim or a waterside hike. If you're feeling adventurous hike to the top of the Old Man of Coniston, the rugged peak visible from the windows of the Barn.
For pub lunches or dinner out there are plenty of options in Coniston village. The Coniston Inn sits right on the water’s edge and serves up local ales and lakeside views, while spots like the Bluebird Café and The Yewdale Inn offer relaxed food and a friendly buzz.
