Originally an old barn on the Highland Estate, these two stone built properties date back from the 1870s, and have been lovingly renovated to create a traditional retreat, filled with modern luxuries. Nestled in the pretty hamlet of Enochdhu, the Tallavey Cottages are the romantic getaway of a lifetime for couples who want to explore the jaw dropping beauty of the Perthshire countryside.
Inside, you’ll find that no expense has been spared to create a truly magical holiday experience, with each cottage boasting an indoor Scandinavian style sauna, the perfect way to relax after a long day of hiking, biking and exploring the beautiful surrounding landscape. The aesthetic of the cottages is guaranteed to instil a feeling of hygge, with hardwood floors, engineered woodburning stoves, slate roofs, and muted, warm finishes on the walls. The highland light pours in through the windows, and even the most adventurous cooks will be impressed by the culinary amenities and appliances on offer in the high-spec kitchens.
Each of the cottages was designed with couples in mind, and comes with a luxurious emperor sized bed made up with White Company linen and soft furnishings provided by the exclusive Anta Scotland. Both cottages benefit from underfloor heating, and come with their own private hot tubs outside.
The underfloor heating, as well as the hot water plumbing, are powered by an eco-friendly biomass boiler which is just one of the initiatives which have won the cottages a prestigious Gold Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme. The rest of the electricity at the property comes from renewable sources.
Both of the cottages are set in gorgeous private gardens, where you’ll be delighted by the range of birds and mammals playing and feeding nearby. Guests have spotted red squirrels, deer, pheasants and partridges as well as herons, raptors and woodpeckers.
Visitors are drawn to Perthshire for its stunning topography, which provides beautiful views regardless of the season. More active couples will be delighted that Glenshee, Scotland’s largest skiing area, is just half an hour away. Nearby you’ll find the Eradour and Blair Atholl Distilliries, as well as Scone Palace, Balmoral, Stirling Castle and the world famous Gleneagles and St Andrews golf courses. There are numerous attractions and activities in the surrounding area, from kayak based beaver watching tours to the annual Winter Words Festival.

Leave a reviewMy wife and I had an unforgettable retreat in the Highlands at Tallavey, where we were able to completely unwind, surrounded by nature and indulging in the hot tub. Ian and Clare’s meticulous attention to detail has resulted in a beautifully appointed cottage, complete with an emperor-sized bed, a luxurious bath, a sauna and wood burner. The fully equipped kitchen and comfortable sofas made it hard to leave, but when we did, the breathtaking mountain scenery and high level walks were absolutely stunning—unmatched anywhere! We can’t wait to return.
