Once a Victorian chapel and schoolhouse, Splatt Chapel has been lovingly reimagined as a luxurious countryside retreat surrounded by three-and-a-half acres of stunning Devon landscapes. This unique conversion combines soaring vaulted ceilings, original architectural details and contemporary style to create a space that feels both inspiring and deeply tranquil. Perfect for those seeking a restorative escape, guests can wander through open fields, spot deer at dusk and unwind in complete privacy with only the sounds of nature for company.
Step through the grand entrance into the former schoolroom - now a stunning open plan kitchen and dining area, bathed in light from large patio doors that open out onto the garden. With underfloor heating throughout, the space is warm and welcoming in every season. The beautifully designed kitchen features sleek modern appliances, including an American-style fridge freezer with ice dispenser, and a large island with an induction hob, ideal for social cooking or morning coffee chats.
Outside, the patio provides the perfect setting for alfresco dining beneath Devon skies. A newly installed wood-fired hot tub is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the country views and a glass of something chilled.
The two elegant bedrooms, one double and one twin, are both located on the ground floor and come with their own stylish bathrooms, each with rainfall showers and brass fittings. Splatt Chapel is a super place to recharge the batteries. The property is beautifully presented and our dogs and children thoroughly enjoyed the vast outdoor space. The hot-tub was a real treat as was the coffee making area on the top floor, ideal for enjoying a lazy morning coffee. Maxine was an amazing and generous host. I would give Splatt Chapel top marks and we are already looking fwd to returning.
