The detail

Silverholme Manor is located in the idyllic Grathwaite Estate, beside Lake Windermere. Sleeping up to 18 guests, it is the perfect accommodation for big groups looking to celebrate a special occasion in style. The luxurious Georgian manor boasts eight ensuite bedrooms, several living and dining areas and expansive outdoor space, where you can enjoy the spectacular panoramic vistas that inspired the likes of Wordsworth and Ruskin. The stay also includes the use of a self-contained cottage for two that can alternatively be set up as a children’s play area, an additional dining room or a separate venue for parties and events.

The main manor is beautifully designed and tastefully decorated, expertly paring authentic, period features with 21st century comforts. Inside you’ll find plenty of room for socialising and relaxing, including light and airy reception rooms and a spacious drawing room. There’s also a cosy snug room with a Smart TV, ideal if some guests wanted to wind down to a movie or binge the latest Netflix series. Eight ensuite bedrooms (a mix of doubles and twins) await when it’s time to unwind. No one can draw the short straw here, each room has been individually styled and features sumptuous beds, luxurious bedding and lake or woodland views. The separate cottage sleeps an additional two guests.

When it’s time to eat, the manor’s huge, fitted kitchen can be used to prepare a feast for the whole group. It’s also suitable for a professional catering company to use. Guests can dine at the huge dining table in the kitchen opposite floor-to-ceiling glass windows, or in the elegant dining room, suitable for any banquet. And in the warmer months, why not eat outside in the alfresco dining area whilst taking in the breathtaking scenery? You’ll also find a BBQ and fire pit, plenty of seating areas and acres of green space for activities.

Guests staying at Silverholme are welcome to explore the estate and its 5,000 acres of private land. You can also book access to a heated swimming pool, visit the farm shop and discover the many nearby footpaths and trails. Want to make your stay extra special? A number of activities, including watersports, off road driving and clay pigeon shooting can be booked by the estate’s team. And finally, the nearby village of Hawkshead is just a short drive away and home to a selection of great pubs and eateries.
