• Two lovely dogs are welcome at a small additional cost but please be aware that the garden isn't fully enclosed.

The detail

Shorthorn is a stunning holiday cottage surrounded by gorgeous Yorkshire countryside and would be perfect for a family get together or friends wanting to reconnect in luxurious surroundings.

The heart of this fabulous home is the large open plan kitchen and dining room. With double-height ceilings, wooden beams and large patio doors opening on to the lovely south-facing garden and letting the light pour in, this is a perfect place to gather for a welcome drink. Head out on to the patio and enjoy the beautiful scenery. It's time to relax.

The kitchen comes fully equipped and has a large island where everyone can help with meal prep, gather for an informal breakfast or get the cocktail shakers out. A large dining table with comfy seating is perfect for long lazy suppers and if there's a special occasion to be celebrated, the hosts can arrange for one of their partner chefs to come in and look after you.

The living room has plenty of comfortable seating and a toasty log burner to keep you cosy on chilly evenings as you watch movies on the widescreen TV. With views directly on to the private garden it's also a nice place to curl up with a book or take a nap.

In addition to the cosy living room there's a fantastic game room with high-beamed ceilings, more seating, another TV and a pool table where you can spend hours in friendly competition. This is also a great room to let the kids unwind and watch a film.

The ground floor is also home to two of the bedrooms making this an ideal holiday for those with mobility issues. Both have king size beds that can be made into twins. One has an ensuite with a shower and the other enjoys a large bathroom, also with a shower. Upstairs you'll find an elegant French-style master with a king size bed and large ensuite with a bath and shower. And a fourth bedroom also has a zip-link king size and ensuite facilities. All of the rooms are elegantly decorated with top quality linens and fluffy towels providing hotel standards in a homely setting.

After a good night's rest you might like to take your first coffee out into the private garden and enjoy the view. There's plenty of seating and some sun loungers so you can make the most of this gorgeous location. An infinity wall drops down to a large paddock and you'll find some stunning views of the Holmedale Valley to enjoy as you make your plans for the day. If you decide to stay home for dinner there's an alfresco dining table, a BBQ and a jacuzzi-style hot tub for you to enjoy with a glass of fizz.

Shorthorn is just a mile away from the pretty village of Ravensworth where you'll find the remains of the 14th century Grade I listed Ravensworth Castle near the village green. Have a wander around and treat yourself to a drink at The Bay Horse, the friendly village pub. There are plenty of pleasant walks to be enjoyed and several good pubs and restaurants along the way. The market towns of Richmond and Barnard Castle, with heritage sites, excellent weekly markets for local goodies and plenty of cafes are just a few miles away. And the hosts recommend a short drive to explore Malham Cove, Aysgarth Falls and pretty towns like Hawes. The village shop, Mainsgill Farm Shop is half a mile away and has award-winning homemade produce and some great wines! And if you fancy a bit of pampering book yourself into The Garage Spa.
