Nestled between the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Lake District is the Shepherd's Cottage, a rustic escape built way back in the 1500s. Old meets new in this lovingly renovated cottage in A Corner Of Eden, which acts as the perfect romantic couple's escape.
Relax and unwind together with a glass of wine in the cosy lounge complete with its comfy sofa and armchair, as well as a wood burner for those toasty nights in. The living room also has plenty of rustic charm thanks to the wooden floors and traditional oak beamed ceilings. This room is linked to the handmade kitchen, complete with an Aga and original stone mantle overhead, as well as flag stone flooring underfoot. There is also a pantry complete with an honesty bar packed full of local beers, spirits and bubbly. Guests will also find a complimentary champagne welcome hamper, which comes with homemade bread and cake.
Up the old stone steps is the large bedroom with four poster super-king bed made from reclaimed timber, ensuring you're guaranteed a super-comfy night's sleep. There's a changing room that leads into a bathroom that has a luxurious double ended roll top bath and a separate shower. There's also a child's room with space for a travel cot or a little bed for a child.
Sit in the beautiful enclosed wall garden and enjoy the property's latest edition - an outdoor roll top cast iron bath - that little bit of added luxury. For those who want a little shade there's a great copper beech tree, under which you can sit with a book and while away the hours. If it gets late and you don't want to head inside, then all you need to do is light the kadai fire pit. Going through the back door leads onto the sunset patio that has an all weather sofa - the perfect spot for your evening glass of wine.
Those who don't fancy cooking can take a 10 minute walk along the neighbouring footpath that leads to The Fat Lamb Inn - an old fashioned charming pub with great grub. This is just one of four pubs within a three mile radius, meaning you've got plenty of options when it comes to finding a mid-afternoon pint. Get out and about in two of the UK's most sought-after natural sites with walks across the Yorkshire Dales or the Lake District. Or, why not take it all in via a trip on England's most scenic railway from Settle to Carlisle? The nearby local village of Ravenstonedale has some lovely places to eat, while the historic Kirkby Stephen and market town of Kirby Lonsdale are also worth a visit.

Leave a reviewWow! This place is amazing. We loved every minute of it, so much so we texted Debbie to see if we could add on an extra night as we didn't want to go home! The place is gorgeous and comfortable and the outside bath is amazing. The pooches were so happy and content just lazing in front of the warm Aga. All the little extra touches are super, the human and doggie hampers are divine. We opted for a more relaxing, peaceful stay with our two pooches but you can easily walk out to the pub for lunch or dinner and drive a bit further for a variety of walks and eateries. It really is a little piece of Eden. The hosts are friendly and helpful but also happy to leave you to relax & enjoy! We are hoping to go back very soon and would highly recommend. Thank you. Tracey, Paul, Roxy & Izzy xx
