Located in the heart of the vibrant seaside town of St. Ives, Shellseekers offers a stylish escape to the coast. The house, once a fish cellar when St. Ives was a busy fishing port, has been transformed into a modern and welcoming holiday cottage. Due to its wonderful versatility, whether you're looking for a boutique romantic retreat, a spot to spend time with friends, or a place to take the whole family then Shellseekers is sure to please.
Set in the cobbled lanes of Downalong, Shellseekers is just 20 paces from the harbour and two minutes from the beach. The beautiful open-plan living spaces and stylish bedroom under the eaves make the perfect hideaway for a romantic retreat. However, if you want to bring some friends or the kids along too, there’s a comfortable king sized sofa bed in the TV snug.
The cottage is bright, airy and inviting thanks to the contemporary furnishings. Step off the cobbled streets and into the main living area which combines sitting room, dining room and kitchen in a modern, open-plan style. A comfy sofa, wood-burning stove and underfloor heating make this the perfect place to curl up after a day exploring the coast. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need on a self-catering holiday, including a gas hob, oven, dishwasher and a Nespresso machine. There’s also plenty of room around the dining table if you should want to invite some friends round for dinner.
Head down to the lower ground floor to the snug where you’ll find another comfy sofa and ottoman, ideal for snuggling up in front of the Smart TV and enjoying an evening in. At the top of the house is the romantic bedroom, complete with sumptuous king sized bed and roll-top bathtub. There’s an ensuite toilet and a wetroom with a waterfall shower downstairs to help wake you up in the mornings. You’ll also find a shower outside where you can wash sandy wetsuits, feet and paws if you’ve brought the dog along too.
St. Ives is renowned for being a hub of creativity and you’ll find plenty of artistic inspiration at the Tate St Ives or at the Barbara Hepworth sculpture museum. Spend some time on the beach or take a stroll along the coastal path and soak up the stunning scenery. Enjoy some delicious food at Porthminster Kitchen followed by a drink and some live music at The Sloop Inn. All before returning to Shellseekers and relaxing in front of the wood-burner in fluffy bath robes.
Up to 2 dogs allowed - cost per dog £35.
