Hidden among centuries old Scots pine trees and reached by a secret archway and bridge through the canopy, Scots Pine Treehouse feels like a private world suspended above the hillside. As you cross into the trees and catch your first glimpse of the mountains beyond, everyday life begins to melt away. From its elevated position, the treehouse enjoys captivating river and mountain views, with the Cairngorms rising proudly in the distance.

Inside, the space unfolds as a luxurious open plan suite, designed for slow mornings and cosy evenings. The super-king size bed sits beneath a vaulted ceiling and glass pyramid rooflight, so you can lie back and watch the stars shimmer above the treetops. Wake to soft Highland light filtering through the pines and the gentle hush of the river below. A comfortable lounge area with Freesat TV and DVD invites you to curl up with a film, while the dining space is perfect for lingering suppers with a bottle of wine and nowhere else to be.

When the temperature dips, light the wood-burning stove and let the glow and crackle fill the room. A generous supply of logs means you can keep things toasty as long as you like. Three sides of floor to ceiling windows draw the outside in, framing ever-changing views of forest, hillside and distant peaks.

Step through the patio doors onto the wraparound deck, which seems to float high above the slope. Here you’ll find your own secluded hillside hot tub, perfectly positioned for long, bubbling soaks with uninterrupted views up to the Cairngorm Mountains. Fire up the BBQ, settle into the outdoor seating and watch the sky turn pink as dusk falls over the Glen.

The separate kitchen is fully equipped with fridge-freezer, separate wine fridge, oven, hob, coffee machine, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, plus a breakfast bar for easy mornings. The bathroom is equally indulgent, with a double-ended freestanding bath placed to make the most of hillside views, a walk-in rainfall shower and his and hers basins that add a boutique hotel feel.

Beyond the trees, adventure awaits in every direction. Explore the dramatic landscapes of the Cairngorms National Park, follow the A93 along Scotland’s Snow Road, or spend winter days skiing at nearby Glenshee. Visit Balmoral or Braemar Castle, wander heather-covered hills in late summer, or browse the shops and cafés of Pitlochry and Ballater. However you fill your days, returning across the bridge to your treetop retreat as the mountains glow in the evening light is an experience in itself.
