The Detail...
Combining Scandi-inspired style with the most magnificent views of the Cornish coast, Saltponds House in Mousehole has everything you will need to enjoy your stay to the full. You will be welcomed to this charming cottage with chilled prosecco and local treats, and that’s just the start.
This Grade II listed building has been carefully restored and impressively furnished, resulting in a beautiful holiday home for up to four guests. Positioned right by the seashore, it features an outdoor terrace with dining and seating areas which really make the most of the outlook – you can see St Michael’s Mount and nearby St Clement’s Isle from this prime vantage point.
Saltponds House has featured in The Sunday Times ’50 Coolest Cottages’, Conde Nast Traveller’s ‘Digs of the Week’, as well as appearing in Ideal Home Magazine, Coast Magazine and John Lewes Edition Magazine.
The accommodation covers three levels, with the kitchen on the ground floor. This is a beautifully appointed space with a Rangemaster cooker, Nespresso machine, dishwasher and granite worktops, and there’s a separate utility room too. The living room covers the whole of the next floor up, and is cosy as they come – check out the Scandinavian wood burner and wonderfully comfortable sofas. The elevated sea view makes it even more special.
On the second floor, you will find a reading nook and the enticing bathroom complete with bath tub and overhead shower. Also on this floor, the master bedroom with a king-size bed, vaulted ceiling and sea view, and the second double bedroom which looks out over the courtyard garden at the back of the cottage. White Company towels, luxury linens and Molton Brown toiletries are all provided.
Your entertainment is all taken care of, with TV, DVD and Netflix, superfast broadband and a Bose speaker and iPod dock. There are plenty of games and books too. The generous welcome hamper extends to Cornish granola, bread and butter, as well as coffee pods, tea bags and all the essentials – it’s all in the details at Saltponds House.
Mousehole itself is as charming as you would expect, with a pretty harbour and a few cafés and restaurants dotted around its narrow streets. Perhaps its best-known, 2 Fore Street, is worth booking in advance if you fancy a Michelin-worthy dinner steps away from the sea.
The village has a couple of small art galleries too. For more of that, head into Penzance just three miles away where you will be spoilt for choice with the likes of The Exchange, Cornwall Contemporary and the glorious Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens awaiting you.
