The detail

Wake up to the sound of the birds and the sheep in this lovely traditional stone cottage which sits amongst the green pastures of the pretty Peak District. Guests arrive through a wooden gate and pull up onto a big gravel driveway which is surrounded by large lush lawns. Visitors are instantly enchanted by the character of this 16th century cottage which is full of charming original features that are balanced by modern conveniences and style.

Stepping into the warm entrance hall, white walls and the bold prints of rugs and cushions perfectly compliment the original dark wooden beams which run across the ceiling and are found throughout the cottage. After a long journey, make your way straight to the kitchen for a rejuvenating cup of tea. This modern and well-equipped room is bright and welcoming. A wooden dining table sits to one side which comfortably seats four and the lovely views from the window, out over the garden, will make even washing-up a treat. A handy utility room doubles as a laundry and provides lots of space for outdoor wear and muddy hiking boots.

Head through to the living room, where guests find the magnificent stone fire-place which dates back to 1797. It serves as the centrepiece to this cosy area which is filled with comfy sofas where visitors can kick back, relax and become entranced by the flickering flames of the fire. A nest of coffee tables for provides plenty of space to rest drinks, books and boardgames. Or maybe, spend an evening catching up on television shows. The Smart TV comes with Netflix and Amazon Prime, Amazon Dot/Alexa and a DVD player with plenty of DVDs to dive into. In warmer months, take the fun outside. The cottage, as well as having large, beautiful gardens, has a lovely outdoor eating area which is framed by a timber pergola.

At bedtime, there are two stylish bedrooms, both quiet and peaceful, where a good night's sleep is guaranteed. Grown ups can enjoy sinking into the super king-sized bed, with its cosy thick duvet and crisp bedding, while children will love the wooden bunk beds in the second bedroom. A luxurious family bathroom, with a large walk-in shower, serves both rooms.

The cottage is perfectly located for a relaxing stay. The pretty village has a great local pub which is a short stroll from Rose Cottage. The area is popular for hikers and bikers and there is storage space for four bicycles in the old potting shed and an outdoor wash area for hosing off muddy wheels, boots and paws.
