Take in the sea air at Rockfish, a former fisherman’s cottage in the beautiful Cornish coastal town of St. Ives. With panoramic views of the Celtic Sea, this holiday home is traditional from the outside yet brimming with modern style inside.
Sleeping eight guests across four boutique bedrooms, the open plan living area on the ground floor is the social heart of the property. Designed with a Scandinavian twist, this light and airy space has the fully equipped kitchen at one end. Sleek and stylish, exposed stone work subtly combines the old with the new, while a large wooden table seating up to eight people allows everyone to eat and socialise together.
At the other end of this large room is the seating area, complete with a comfy L-shaped sofa, flat-screen TV, log burner, and local artwork. Heading upstairs leads to the four individually designed bedrooms. The master suite has a super king bed, stunning sea views, and a freestanding roll top bath at one end of the room. A further two bedrooms have double beds, while the last room has bunk beds and is ideal for children. The main bathroom with a separate shower cubicle is also found on this level, while there is a further shower room in the basement.
Considering its location, it’s only right that Rockfish has plenty of outdoor space as well. There are terraces at the front and rear of the cottage. At the front a glass-fronted balcony has a small seating area, while at the back there is an outside table and chairs for alfresco dining and also another raised terrace boasting fantastic views across the rooftops and down to the sands of Porthmeor Beach.
Given its central location Rockfish is perfect for exploring St. Ives. Porthmeor is a beach on the North Cornwall coast which is popular with swimmers and surfers alike. Pick up essentials in the town and then come and have a picnic on a beach with the prestigious Blue Flag award recognising its eco-friendliness. The town is also well known for its art, with the Tate gallery and Barbara Hepworth museum among specific highlights.
