The Details

This contemporary, solar-powered cabin close to Hithin has been designed to help you reconnect with yourself, your loved ones and the beautiful landscape around you. Set in peaceful countryside with friendly cows in the surrounding fields, you’ll have the opportunity to slow down the pace and escape the busy everyday.

There’s no WiFi here, making it easier to switch off from your digital life and relax. Wake up to the sounds of the birds in the meadow and head out on long walks straight from the front door. In the evenings, toast marshmallows over the firepit as you watch the sunset over the meadow or enjoy a soak in the outdoor bath.

When you arrive, you’ll find a trolley to pop your bags into and take them up to the cabin, walking through the pretty meadow. During the day, the interior of the cabin is flooded with natural light through big windows, helping you soak up the scenery. In the evening, the open-plan design becomes cosy, with a fire crackling away in the log burner as dinner cooks in the integrated pizza oven. You’ll find the essentials to get you started in the kitchen for rustling up simple meals and there’s also a grill to be used on the firepit outside.

The king size bed is set beneath the big windows so you can wake up and enjoy the view without getting up or lie back and do some stargazing in the evenings. You’ll find the bed set up with luxurious linens and fluffy towels and toiletries will also be waiting for you.

The cabin is powered by solar with sockets to charge your devices and even without WiFi, you’ll be able to connect via a fast mobile signal if you need to. The log burner heats the cabin efficiently, even in winter, and there’s hot water in the bathroom for the shower and the sink. The cabin has been designed with the environment in mind so there’s a waterless toilet and the tap outside for washing off muddy boots uses captured rainwater.

Outside, there’s a deck where you can sit and enjoy the view or use the mats provided to start the day off with some yoga. On sunny afternoons, relax on the outdoor sofa while lunch sizzles away over the firepit. There’s even a superb outdoor bathtub that is ideal for an evening soak under the stars amidst hot bubbly water, or cold soaks for some cold water therapy.

Or, you can head out straight from the front door, through the meadows and fields along running, walking and cycling trails to explore the nearby woodlands and countryside.

If you can tear yourselves away from your peaceful hideaway and fancy exploring some of the local area, Hitchin, a charming Hertfordshire market town, offers plenty to explore. Stroll through the historic cobbled streets, browse independent shops or relax in the lively Market Place. The stunning St Mary’s Church is a must-see, while the British Schools Museum reveals fascinating local history. In summer, visit Hitchin Lavender for fields of purple blooms. Nearby countryside provides excellent walking and cycling trails, including Pegsdon Hills and Barton Hills nature reserves, perfect for enjoying wildlife, fresh air and sweeping Chilterns views.

FAQs about Reconnect Cabin

  • How many people can stay at Reconnect Cabin?

Reconnect Cabin is designed for two guests. With a king-size bed placed beneath large windows, it’s a cosy space ideal for couples, close friends, or solo travellers who want to immerse themselves in nature.

  • What are the check-in days and minimum stay requirements?

Guests can check in on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The minimum stay is two nights, making it perfect for short breaks or long weekends away from the city.

  • What does it cost to stay?

The nightly rate ranges between £190 and £220, depending on the season and availability. This includes exclusive use of the cabin and all its off-grid facilities.

  • Can I bring my dog?

Yes, pets are very welcome at Reconnect Cabin. The meadow setting and surrounding trails make it an especially enjoyable stay for four-legged friends.

  • Is there WiFi or mobile signal at the cabin?

The cabin has no WiFi — part of its appeal is the chance to switch off and reconnect with nature. That said, there is good mobile phone signal should you need to stay in touch.

  • What makes the cabin eco-friendly?

Reconnect Cabin is entirely off-grid, powered by solar panels with battery storage. It has excellent insulation, draught-proof windows, and uses natural materials such as straw bales and sheep’s wool. A composting toilet and rainwater harvesting further reduce environmental impact, while eco-friendly toiletries and cleaning products are provided to complete the sustainable experience.

  • What facilities and amenities are available?

Inside, you’ll find a king-size bed, a bathroom with hot shower, fluffy towels, and a log burner to keep things cosy. A small kitchen is equipped for simple meals, and there’s also a firepit with a grill outside for evenings under the stars. For wellbeing, yoga mats are provided, and an outdoor bath offers the chance for starlit soaks or invigorating cold-water dips.

  • How do I get to the cabin, and where do I park?

There is a dedicated parking space nearby. From there, it’s a short walk through a meadow to reach the cabin itself, and a trolley is available to help carry luggage across the grass. This adds to the feeling of arriving somewhere truly tucked away.

  • What activities are nearby?

The cabin sits on a regenerative farm in the Hertfordshire countryside, so walking, running, and cycling can be enjoyed straight from the doorstep. Woodland Trust forests, meadows, and hills are close by, while the historic market town of Hitchin offers independent shops and a rich history. Seasonal highlights such as Hitchin Lavender, as well as nature reserves like Pegsdon Hills and Barton Hills, provide plenty of opportunities to explore.

  • What is the cabin like inside?

Reconnect Cabin is small but thoughtfully designed. The king-size bed sits beneath wide windows for morning views and night-time stargazing. The bathroom includes a hot shower and sink, and luxury linens and eco-toiletries are provided. A log burner warms the cabin on cooler evenings, and books, games, and a smart speaker add a few home comforts. It’s a balance of rustic simplicity and modern touches, all with sustainability at heart.
