This contemporary, solar-powered cabin close to Hithin has been designed to help you reconnect with yourself, your loved ones and the beautiful landscape around you. Set in peaceful countryside with friendly cows in the surrounding fields, you’ll have the opportunity to slow down the pace and escape the busy everyday.
There’s no WiFi here, making it easier to switch off from your digital life and relax. Wake up to the sounds of the birds in the meadow and head out on long walks straight from the front door. In the evenings, toast marshmallows over the firepit as you watch the sunset over the meadow or enjoy a soak in the outdoor bath.
When you arrive, you’ll find a trolley to pop your bags into and take them up to the cabin, walking through the pretty meadow. During the day, the interior of the cabin is flooded with natural light through big windows, helping you soak up the scenery. In the evening, the open-plan design becomes cosy, with a fire crackling away in the log burner as dinner cooks in the integrated pizza oven. You’ll find the essentials to get you started in the kitchen for rustling up simple meals and there’s also a grill to be used on the firepit outside.
The king size bed is set beneath the big windows so you can wake up and enjoy the view without getting up or lie back and do some stargazing in the evenings. You’ll find the bed set up with luxurious linens and fluffy towels and toiletries will also be waiting for you.
The cabin is powered by solar with sockets to charge your devices and even without WiFi, you’ll be able to connect via a fast mobile signal if you need to. The log burner heats the cabin efficiently, even in winter, and there’s hot water in the bathroom for the shower and the sink. The cabin has been designed with the environment in mind so there’s a waterless toilet and the tap outside for washing off muddy boots uses captured rainwater.
Outside, there’s a deck where you can sit and enjoy the view or use the mats provided to start the day off with some yoga. On sunny afternoons, relax on the outdoor sofa while lunch sizzles away over the firepit. There’s even a superb outdoor bathtub that is ideal for an evening soak under the stars amidst hot bubbly water, or cold soaks for some cold water therapy.
Or, you can head out straight from the front door, through the meadows and fields along running, walking and cycling trails to explore the nearby woodlands and countryside.
If you can tear yourselves away from your peaceful hideaway and fancy exploring some of the local area, Hitchin, a charming Hertfordshire market town, offers plenty to explore. Stroll through the historic cobbled streets, browse independent shops or relax in the lively Market Place. The stunning St Mary’s Church is a must-see, while the British Schools Museum reveals fascinating local history. In summer, visit Hitchin Lavender for fields of purple blooms. Nearby countryside provides excellent walking and cycling trails, including Pegsdon Hills and Barton Hills nature reserves, perfect for enjoying wildlife, fresh air and sweeping Chilterns views.
