The Details

Quarryman’s Cottage is a beautiful romantic cottage for two that sits in the peaceful Dorset countryside close to the coast. Built in the 1800s, this charming cottage has been lovingly converted into a superb stay for two that offers amazing views of Lyme Bay, Lyme Regis and more. When you arrive, you’ll love the upside-down layout of the home, which ensures that the upstairs living area takes full advantage of the coastal views.

When you arrive, you’ll find the home tucked away on a hillside, with trees all around. It’s a beautifully calming setting for your stay, which allows you to immerse yourself in nature and relax in style. The outdoor deck is a lovely spot for a morning coffee or afternoon drink, and also has a fab alfresco dining table where you can enjoy meals in the summer sunshine.

On cooler days, head inside and get comfy in the living room, which has a two-seater sofa and is kept warm thanks to a Charnwood wood-burner. This is a great spot in which to warm toes as you dig into a good book or chat the night away. There’s also a lovely window seat here and a smart TV for movie nights, whilst a bluetooth speaker ensures you can listen to music throughout your stay.

When hunger strikes, the kitchen is ready to impress. Fully equipped to a high standard, it features a gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine and a charming Belfast sink tucked beneath a solid oak worktop - offering both style and added workspace. Whether you're whipping up a quick bite or a full meal, you'll have everything you need. An antique pine table is paired with classic Ercol straight-back chairs, creating a warm and inviting dining space.

Thoughtful details throughout the home add character and warmth. The modern rustic style blends vintage finds with contemporary touches, like a restored headmaster’s book cupboard repurposed as a pantry, and a striking teak ship’s door discovered on Sanna beach over 35 years ago. Reclaimed pine joists form the bedroom floor, while original upstairs boards have been hand-restored. An elegant oak and powder-coated steel spiral staircase from Italy connects the two levels.

When night falls, head to the lovely bedroom on the lower floor. The bedroom features a solid wood king size bed dressed in hotel-quality Egyptian cotton sheets and towels. Vintage elm chairs serve as unique bedside tables, complemented by a large antique pine trunk, a chest of drawers and a lovely window seat with cushions and blankets.

The spacious ensuite is finished to a high standard, featuring a luxurious double shower with sweeping views of Lyme Bay and Charmouth. A freestanding bath sits beneath twin windows - perfect for stargazing. A reclaimed sycamore slab supports the sink, while dimmable nautical-style lighting adds a warm, atmospheric touch.

Quarryman’s Cottage is perfectly placed for exploring Dorset’s stunning coast and countryside. Walk straight from the door to Golden Cap, Langdon Woods or Seatown’s Anchor Inn. Low tide reveals a magical beach walk to Lyme Regis via Charmouth and Stonebarrow. Local favourites include paddleboarding, kayaking, wild swimming, fossil hunting and seaside saunas. For a bite of foodie adventure, River Cottage is just 15 minutes away. Further afield, visit Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove or antique-hunt in Bridport. Don’t miss Bridport’s vibrant Saturday market or a boat trip from Beer.
