Listed as one of the Guardian's 50 best UK holiday cottages of 2016, this Grade 2 listed building has been lovingly refurbished into a three-storey getaway for two people.
With views across to the castle, over the town of Alnwick, and the countryside beyond, each part of this property offers a completely different perspective. The historical elements and stunning architecture and design are perfectly intertwined throughout to make for a truly unique stay.
Upon entering the tower a spiral staircase takes guests up to the kitchen and dining area, complete with a fridge and freezer box, electric oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, Tassimo coffee machine and everything else needed for self-catering. A luxury welcome hamper including local loose tea makes for a nice finishing touch.
A short trip up another spiral staircase leads into the living area. With a comfy sofa, TV, music system, books and film collection this is the ideal area for snuggling up in on a cold evening, or for taking in the spectacular views. The bathroom is also on this floor with a large shower, WC, basin and heated towel rail.
The mezzanine bedroom is accessed by a regular staircase from the lounge with its king size bed and anti-allergy bedding. Electric panelled heating throughout the tower make the home eco-friendly, while the exposed stone walls inside not only make it warm and cosy but also showcase its medieval history.
Being right in the centre of Alnwick, guests can come out of the front door and take a short walk down the cobbled streets before being surrounded by shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes in the Narrowgate area of the town. Walk alongside the walls of the castle - the location for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films - to Alnwick Garden, which includes over 4,000 plants, water sculptures and one of the world's largest tree houses.
The Scottish borders are not far from this Northumberland outcrop either, while the cities of Newcastle and Edinburgh are a 30-minute and 1-hour train ride away respectively.
