The details

Around three miles from Bodmin, and eight miles from picturesque Port Isaac, Poachers Pocket Cottage is ideally positioned for a luxurious break exploring the north Cornwall coast. With the Camel Trail just half a mile away, it’s great for those who want to do it on two wheels – and Poachers Pocket will even provide the bikes.

With its blend of contemporary and rustic, the style at Poachers Pocket sets the scene for a romantic couple’s break. The open-plan living area, with wood-burning stove in the stone fireplace and large, comfy sofa, is a very inviting one – just throw another log on, sit back and relax.

You have a flatscreen HDTV with Netflix, and a small dining area too, and the cool blue kitchen provides all you will need, including a Nespresso coffee machine. There’s plenty more to entertain yourselves with, including a DVD player, acoustic guitar and a record player, so don’t forget to pack some vinyl to create the perfect soundtrack to your stay.

The owners provide breakfast for guests on the first morning using local produce (vegetarians and vegans also catered for) and they also provide organic Prosecco. Take a look upstairs and you’ll find complimentary Cornish toiletries in the luxurious bathroom with glamorous rolltop bath and rainshower – and fluffy towels and White Company robes as well.

You are equally pampered in the bedroom, with its sumptuous king-size bed offering an irresistible level of comfort. There are fitted wardrobes and eye-catching décor, and the window seat gives you a view out to the courtyard and greenery beyond.

The nearby villages of St Mabyn and St Tudy both offer a pleasant pub with some great dining on offer – the St Tudy Inn featuring in the Michelin guide, and the St Mabyn Inn featuring a beautiful beer garden for chilled out summer evenings. Either provide the perfect conclusion to a day exploring Bodmin Moor, just four miles away. Walking and hiking is the order of the day, while at night things get suitably dark for some top-notch stargazing – take the area’s official Dark Sky status as confirmation.

With the likes of Padstow, Tintagel and the Eden Project all within 15 miles, Poachers Pocket Cottage is in just the right spot to make the most of this wonderful region.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Poachers Pocket. Cannot praise this place enough. The booking experience and arrangements with Gemma was faultless. The cottage itself is amazing. Wonderful location. Thoughtful extras in the kitchen and bathroom. Lovely homemade bread, scones and jam. High quality linens. Marvellous boutique style holiday cottage. Will be returning
