A short stroll from an inviting country pub, Ploughman’s Cottage sits in rural Hampshire, about 10 minutes’ drive from pretty Lymington. This New Forest gem is eco-friendly, family friendly and full of character – and with room for up to 10, there’s no shortage of space for visitors of all ages to enjoy.
Ploughman’s Cottage has been designed to be perfect for large, mixed groups and those with children. You can’t help but be charmed by the place – look out for the gypsy caravan and hidden dens amongst nearly an acre of pretty gardens, all bound to enchant and inspire the young and young-at-heart.
Another quirky spot is ‘The Shed’, with its ornate four-poster bed, cosy seating area and wood-burner, it can either be a romantic retreat or a space to get some time to yourself as you look out on the gardens.
Elsewhere, you’ll find another 4 bedrooms – some upstairs, some down – including ones designed with children and babies in mind. All sorts of paraphernalia is provided at Ploughman’s Cottage (cots, high chairs, baby bouncers, books, DVDs and more), so you hardly need bring anything to entertain the kids. The play area in the stables, well-equipped with toys, should keep them busy, while the child’s bedroom’s triple bunk-beds will make going to sleep even more fun.
Among other highlights are the charming kitchen, complete with dishwasher, microwave, American-style fridge freezer and everything else you could want, which leads out to a terrace and veranda with plenty of outdoor dining space for leisurely breakfasts in the sun. The cosy sitting room with its big blue corner sofa makes a fine place to snuggle down at the end of the day too.
The highly recommended East End Arms is just moments away, and makes it easy to pop out for a pub lunch or evening meal. Having said that, its reputation means it can get booked up. Catering at the cottage can be arranged too, and there are plenty of intriguing eateries to try out in nearby Lymington.
Ploughman’s Cottage is around 3 minutes from the beach, and there’s lots more to venture out for around the local area. Take the ferry from Lymington to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight, see the Beaulieu Motor Museum or Exbury Gardens, or simply traverse the beautiful countryside of the New Forest National Park.
It’s all there to discover when you stay at Ploughman’s Cottage, so give your family a holiday they’ll remember for years to come.

Please expect our short stays to be 60%+ of our week prices. We are not a hotel and it takes a huge amount of work, especially with COVID around, to make the house clean and right for guests. Kids in travel cots stay free.
The prices above give a guide only. In peak season the price can be higher than the 'to' price shown here. We use a dynamic pricing structure which means prices can fluctuate slightly on a daily basis. Pricing depends on demand for this house and across the area. We cannot guarantee the prices quoted today will be the same in the future.
The Cottage (sleeps 6 + 2 children + 2 babies) & The Pig Shed (annexe) (sleeps 4) can be sold separately during certain times of the year. Please enquire for pricing. Min 3 night stays.
Just across the garden is the Pig Shed annexe. If you are renting just one part of the accommodation here, then there is a high possibility there will be another group of guests here. The gardens are fenced separate with wire fencing but kids can 100% see through it. Do see pics and the virtual tour for layout. Whilst we do talk to guests and explain this, we cannot guarantee that your fellow guests will be as perfect as you'd like and you will need to be tolerant of them.
FYI - The kids toys and kit come primarily with the cottage not the annexe.
The parking area is the only shared area.
