Perfectly situated in a quiet street, a short walk from the centre of one of England's most historic cities, Winchester, this lovely cottage makes the ideal base for exploring this fascinating location.
Guests enter through a pretty blue door, directly into the light, bright and modern sitting room. A pair of comfy sofas sit opposite each other by an exposed brick fireplace, filled with candles to create a cosy atmosphere at night. Beyond the living area is the large kitchen/dining room.
This bright and spacious room comes fully-equipped with everything visitors might need to create culinary magic, including a large range style oven. A big farmhouse table and chairs forms the centrepiece of the room and guests will enjoy lazy breakfasts while making plans for the day ahead.
The kitchen window offers views of the pretty garden which can be accessed directly from the dining area. Step up onto the sunny garden terrace and enjoy a morning coffee or bask in the last rays of summer sun while enjoying a splash of wine.
Pilgrim's Cottage has two bedrooms and sleeps four people in one double and one twin room. The double room is light and bright, decorated tastefully in whites and blues. Thick curtains and central heating keep guests cosy throughout the year. Next door, in the twin room, two good sized singles occupy the space and there is a walk-in wardrobe, offering plenty of storage for clothing. A large modern family bathroom, featuring a full-sized bath with over-bath shower, comes with towels provided.
Winchester has much to offer visitors, from the stunning cathedral to its great shopping. Visitors during the Christmas period can experience the magical atmosphere of Winchester's Christmas market - which attracts crafts people from all over the UK. The city also marks the start of the South Downs Way and lots of lovely walks can be accessed directly from the city. While Jane Austen fans will be enthralled by a visit the the house, at nearby Chawton, where she lived and wrote some of her most famous novels.
Food fans will enjoy the many lovely pubs and restaurants in the area - favourites include seafood at Rick Stein's, great pub grub at The Old Vine and afternoon tea in the Tudor splendour of the Anvil Tea Rooms and Coffee Shop.
