Sleeping between eight and twelve guests across a charming main house and garden cottage, this elegant retreat offers the perfect setting for family gatherings or special breaks with friends on Cornwall’s rugged and captivating coastline.

Life here naturally gravitates outdoors. The expansive terrace seems to float above the village, offering a spectacular place for morning coffee as the day boats head out to sea. Later in the day, fire up the barbecue with local produce from nearby farm shops and dine alfresco while the sun dips behind Polkirt Hill. Herb pots line the terrace and fragrant flower beds fill the surrounding gardens, where winding paths lead past lavender, rosemary and jasmine to hidden corners including a peaceful fish pond and slate seating areas.

Step inside and Penpol is just as welcoming. The cosy living room offers a warm retreat after salty seaside adventures, with a woodburning stove perfect for curling up beside on cooler evenings. French windows open onto the terrace, keeping the views and sea air ever-present, while smart TVs and comfortable seating provide the ideal space for relaxed movie nights with your group.

The spacious kitchen-diner forms the heart of the house. A traditional four-oven Aga takes centre stage, making it a wonderful place for sociable cooking sessions while others gather around the bar seating with a glass of wine. Meals can be enjoyed indoors at the dining table or carried outside to the terrace where the harbour views provide an unforgettable backdrop.

Five bright bedrooms provide flexible accommodation for groups of up to twelve guests. In the main house, three bedrooms include a master suite with a super-king size bed, harbour views and a luxurious rolltop bath. Two further rooms feature king size beds that can be arranged as twins and elegant ensuite bathrooms. The separate garden cottage offers two additional ensuite bedrooms and a handy kitchenette, providing extra privacy for part of the group.

Beyond the house, Mevagissey itself is a delight to explore. Wander its cobbled streets lined with colourful cottages, browse galleries and shops or sit on the harbour wall with fish and chips while watching the seals and fishing boats come and go. Nearby beaches such as Polstreath and Portmellon offer golden sands and clear waters, while day trips to the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan or the charming harbour towns along the South Cornwall coast promise plenty more adventure.
