You should know

• You should be aware that the lighthouses and equipment need regular and sometimes emergency maintenance. Therefore visits by maintenance staff may occur at any time during the year. However, staff will do their best to ensure guest privacy at all times.
• Access roads to the lighthouse site are narrow with limited passing places and, dependent on the season and site, there is the possibility of overhanging vegetation due to cutting restrictions during bird breeding seasons or other environmental reasons.
• Please note that although the accommodation is on the ground floor, there are internal steps and level changes within the property.
• Sorry, no barbecues or fireworks permitted.
• No pets are allowed at this cottage.

Enjoy vast views out to sea from your unique vantage point at Pelorus Cottage. On a private site, you'll find four cottages, sheltered beneath a headland and 75' above the sea, accessed via a one-mile-long private road. Pelorus Cottage is one of these four, located on a headland between the sandy beaches of Harlyn and Constantine Bays, four miles west of Padstow. The Lighthouse was built in 1847, electrified in 1973 and automated in 1995.

The cottages are semi-detached, with the lighthouse positioned in the middle. At the front, there is a communal tarmac forecourt with parking. To the rear, on the sea side, there is a shared walled grass area which is fenced at the cliff edge. The South West Coast Path runs round the headland and on towards Padstow.

Inside this charming cottage, that sleeps four guests, you’ll find two bedrooms and one bath room. Everything is simply decorated with white walls and windows that make the most of the vast views beyond. Outside you’ll find a large communal, grassed area to the side of Pelorus Cottage, plus parking for one car and additional public parking available 100 yards away.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. There’s also a TV and DVD player. Should you need it, two travel cots and highchairs are available on request.

Enjoy a delicious meal at Rick Stein's seafood restaurant (book well ahead if you wish to secure a table), bistro and cafe. Harlyn Bay, on the road to Padstow in the lee of Trevose Head, offers surfing and a sheltered family beach with a wide crescent of yellow sand and rock pools and safe swimming (a lifeguard is on duty in the summer months), and the wonderful Eden Project is only a 30-minute drive away.
