Step into the storybook charm of Peacock Cottage, a beautiful detached stone-built hideaway nestled around a quaint triangular courtyard in the heart of Devon. With its old-world sitting room featuring low ceilings, exposed beams, and a cosy wood-burning fireplace, this is a retreat made for both snug mornings with a steaming cup of tea and relaxed evenings unwinding by the fire with a glass of wine.
Downstairs, the inviting sitting and dining area is full of character, with a wood-burning stove, Smart TV, and Bluetooth music system setting the scene for lazy afternoons and sociable evenings. The quaint yet well-equipped kitchen, just a couple of steps up, is kitted out with everything you need for preparing delicious home-cooked feasts. Enjoy your meals at the charming dining table in the living room or head outside to your private garden with patio, furniture, and barbecue, perfect for alfresco dinners on summer evenings.
A winding staircase leads you upstairs to two welcoming bedrooms. The master features a romantic king-size four-poster bed, while the second bedroom offers two cosy single beds – ideal for families or friends travelling together. A modern family bathroom with bath, shower, toilet, and basin completes the layout. Sleeping four guests (plus up to two cots), Peacock Cottage blends rustic charm with comfort, making it a relaxing base after days of exploring.
During your stay, you’ll be tucked away in a secluded valley surrounded by 17 acres of beautiful grounds, filled with activities and amenities for all ages. Kids can enjoy the indoor games room with table football and table tennis, while under-fives have their own soft play area. Outdoors, there’s plenty to spark imaginations, including a two-storey Wendy House and a wooden tractor with a slide.
Animal lovers will adore meeting Coulscott’s 50+ residents, including alpacas, pygmy goats, Kune Kune piglets, hand-reared sheep, free-range chickens, ducks, guinea pigs and mini lop rabbits.
For grown-ups, there’s a five-acre dog-walking field, five-a-side football, full-size badminton and tennis courts, plus croquet, boules and cricket. You can even try out the new pitch and putt golf course with countryside views.
Beyond your door, Coulscott Estate offers a peaceful escape with sweeping views across its private valley, just half a mile from Exmoor National Park and within easy reach of North Devon’s dramatic coastline. Explore endless walking trails, spot wild ponies and red deer, or take in spectacular clifftop scenery along the South West Coast Path. Nearby Combe Martin offers pubs, shops, and a sheltered bay for paddle-boarding, kayaking, and dolphin spotting, while families will adore the Wildlife & Dinosaur Park just a short drive away. For those seeking adventure, the hidden beaches of Wild Pear and Broadsands are waiting to be discovered, surrounded by rugged cliffs and natural beauty.
